Senior Accountant U.S. Real Estate Lending

About the Role

We are seeking a Senior Accountant to help scale our finance and reporting function. This role is ideal for someone with strong fundamentals in accounting, familiarity with lending/credit operations, and the ability to thrive in a high-growth startup environment.

You will own core accounting cycles, build scalable processes, support investor and lender reporting, and partner closely with leadership.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead month-end and year-end close; prepare journal entries, accruals, and reconciliations

  • Maintain loan accounting schedules, including:

  • Loan receivables and interest income accruals

  • Loan loss provisioning
  • Construction draws and escrow tracking (if applicable)

  • Warehouse facility utilization, interest expense, and covenants

  • Support securitization/SPV accounting and reporting

  • Prepare and analyze P&L, Balance Sheet, and Cash Flow statements
  • Assist in budgeting and forecasting; provide variance analysis and financial insights
  • Review AP/AR, vendor payments, borrower payments, and bank reconciliations
  • Support external audit, tax filings, and lender due-diligence processes
  • Enhance internal controls, accounting policies, and automation initiatives
  • Work closely with operations, credit, product, and capital markets teams

Qualifications

  • Master's in Accounting/Finance; CPA/CMA preferred
  • 5- 8+ years of progressive accounting experience
  • Experience in real estate lending, credit, fintech, or financial services preferred
  • Solid understanding of US GAAP accounting principles
  • Hands-on experience with loan platforms/ERP (QuickBooks, Microsoft Dynamics)
  • Advanced Excel skills
  • Comfortable in a high-growth, hands-on startup environment
  • Strong analytical and communication skills; attention to detail
