Role Overview

We are seeking a Payroll & Compliance Specialist who will be responsible for ensuring accurate and timely payroll processing, statutory compliance, and supporting employee relations by addressing grievances and legal matters. This role requires strong knowledge of payroll systems, labor laws, and compliance regulations, along with the ability to handle employee concerns with sensitivity and professionalism.

Key Responsibilities

Payroll Management

  • Manage end-to-end payroll processing, ensuring 100% accuracy and timeliness.
  • Maintain payroll data, salary structures, and employee master records.
  • Ensure proper deductions (PF, ESI, PT, Income Tax, etc.) and compliance with statutory requirements.
  • Reconcile payroll-related accounts and prepare reports for finance and management.
  • Coordinate with external vendors/consultants for payroll audits and filings.

Compliance & Legal

  • Ensure adherence to all labor laws, statutory filings, and compliance deadlines (PF, ESI, LWF, Gratuity, Bonus Act, Shops & Establishment, Factories Act, etc.).
  • Stay updated with regulatory changes and implement required policy/process modifications.
  • Handle inspections, audits, and liaise with government bodies as needed.
  • Draft and review HR-related contracts, notices, and compliance documents.

Employee Grievances & Relations

  • Act as the first point of contact for employee grievances related to payroll, benefits, or workplace concerns.
  • Provide guidance on labor laws, company policies, and disciplinary matters.
  • Work with HR leadership to resolve disputes in a fair and compliant manner.
  • Support investigations related to employee complaints or legal cases.

Reporting & Analytics

  • Generate payroll MIS reports, compliance dashboards, and statutory registers.
  • Provide insights and recommendations on payroll costs, compliance risks, and employee relations trends.

Qualifications & Skills

  • Bachelors degree in HR, Commerce, Law, or related field (MBA/LLB preferred).
  • 4–8 years of experience in payroll & compliance, preferably in mid to large organizations.
  • Strong knowledge of Indian labor laws, social security schemes, and statutory compliance.
  • Hands-on experience with payroll software (SAP, Darwinbox, Oracle, ADP, etc.) and MS Excel.
  • Good understanding of grievance handling, employee relations, and disciplinary procedures.
  • Excellent communication, negotiation, and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to handle sensitive information with confidentiality and integrity.
