Responsible for the daily management of all materials on a construction site, including receiving, storing, and issuing materials, maintaining accurate inventory records, and ensuring proper organization and security of the store

  • Material management: Receive, inspect, and properly store all incoming materials, ensuring they match the purchase orders.
  • Inventory control: Maintain accurate records of all material receipts and issues, and perform regular stock checks to reconcile physical stock with records.
  • Issuing materials: Issue materials and equipment to construction teams based on requisitions and ensuring the correct materials are used for the correct work.
  • Reporting: Prepare and submit daily, weekly, or monthly reports on stock levels, material consumption, and any other relevant store information.
  • Record-keeping: Maintain a variety of records, including material registers, delivery and dispatch logs, and records for cash purchases and empty bags.
  • Stock replenishment: Monitor stock levels and inform the relevant engineers or purchase department when material needs to be reordered to avoid stockouts.
  • Site supervision: Supervise the store area to prevent material wastage or misuse and ensure materials are properly secured at the end of each day.

Required skills and qualifications

  • Experience in managing a store, preferably in a civil construction setting.
  • Proficiency in using Microsoft Excel and Word for documentation and reporting.
  • Ability to learn and use inventory management software (WMS).
  • Strong organizational and record-keeping skills.
  • Good communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • Knowledge of safety measures for handling and storing materials
