Senior Specialist, BI Solution Design

As we develop an enterprise-wide data and digital strategy that moves us toward greater focus on the use of data and strengthen our capabilities, we are seeking a Senior Specialist to join our BI & Reporting function, as part of our BI Solution Design & Transformation team. In this role, you will be a key technical BI & Reporting lead for all our global Power BI (inc. Power Apps, Power Automate etc.) solutions, and will lead efforts to enhance, transform and streamline the BI platform landscape. You will be an ambassador of new and existing BI solutions across all regions and must be comfortable proactively engaging with business users. This will enable the organization to gain necessary, timely insights to drive business decisions, build our dynamic advantage and help differentiate in the market through easy-to-use, scalable, cost effective, secure, and high-performance BI platforms. In this role, you will report to the Division Lead, BI Solution Design & Transformation, based in London. You will work within a global team in your day-to-day work with teams and business users around the world.

What youll be DOING

What will your essential responsibilities include?

• Technical Leadership & Expertise: Demonstrate advanced knowledge and act as the go-to subject matter expert in developing and implementing global BI reporting solutions. Ensure solutions are aligned with best practices, customer needs, and efficient use of data assets and resources.
• Customer Engagement & Requirements Gathering: Possess robust interpersonal skills to work directly with business stakeholders, accurately capture and analyze requirements, design tailored BI solutions, and troubleshoot issues effectively. Prioritize tasks based on deep understanding of customer needs.
• Industry Best Practice & Governance: Apply industry-leading techniques to ensure BI platforms are well-governed, secure, and optimized. Incorporate AI capabilities into BI solutions, including design, testing, deployment, and continuous improvement processes.
• Training & Enablement: Develop and deliver training programs to empower the business to self-serve BI demands. Manage and maintain relevant BI tools to support ongoing user needs and self-sufficiency.
• Cross-Functional Collaboration: Build effective partnerships with teams within Global Technology, Transformation & Change Delivery, Group, and other relevant units to support project delivery and ongoing business operations.
• Customer-Centric Mindset: Foster a customer-first approach by prioritizing excellent service delivery to business stakeholders and ensuring solutions meet their evolving needs.

• Proficiency in Power BI & Digital Tools: Expert in Power BI, Power Apps, Power Automate, with experience in large, complex organizations.
• Data Modelling & Data Engineering: Mastery in data modelling best practices, SQL, data management, and data pipelines.
• AI & Data Science Integration: Experience with AI in BI, Power BI Copilot, LLMs, Databricks, Databricks Genie, and programming languages such as R, Python, PowerShell.
• Data Infrastructure & Integration: Knowledge of data architecture, integration difficulties, and long-term data strategy.
• Agile Methodologies & Tools: Ability to operate within agile teams using Jira and other workflow tools.
• Digital & Data-Driven Mindset: Passionate about digital transformation, data, and AI-driven innovation.

• Insurance Industry Experience: Experience working within the insurance sector, understanding both financial and non-financial metrics, and their application in business intelligence.
