About the Role:

We're hiring our
first People & Culture lead

— a hands-on builder who can shape how people join, grow, and thrive at Alt, while also running the day-to-day systems that keep things moving. Your first few months will be a mix of setting up people policies, growing the team and hiring for key positions, and ensuring that new hires have all the tools they need to thrive. 

This is not a plug-and-play HR role. We're looking for someone who loves taking ownership, working directly with founders, and blending structure with experimentation.

What You'll Do:

  • Build the foundation of our people practices

— from hiring and onboarding to growth, performance, and offboarding
- Work with the founders

to shape team structure, define roles, and create meaningful career paths
- Lead hiring across product, tech, and design

— using your network in India's product and tech circles to help us find the right people faster
- Design simple, scalable systems

that make remote-first work effortless
- Experiment with AI tools

to automate repeat work and improve how we run day to day work
- Co-create culture

— build rituals, feedback loops, and learning practices that keep us connected even while working remotely
- Handle HR operations, contracts, and compliance

— keeping policies up to date and aligned with local laws and our values
- Shape our employer brand

— from onboarding experiences to how we show up on LinkedIn
- Manage relationships with external partners

— consultants, legal advisors, and tech platforms that support our team

You'll Thrive Here If You:

  • Have
    5+ years

of experience across HR, operations, or people strategy
- Have helped build HR processes in early stages of a tech/ product-led company
- Are comfortable with ambiguity and love setting up new systems
- Are tech-savvy — comfortable with tools like Slack, Notion, ATS platforms, and AI assistants
- Think in systems but act fast — balancing empathy with operational rigor
- Can manage multiple moving parts without getting flustered
- Think people-first: we are an AI+People company and our emphasis is on building the right people policies for our team from the ground up
