Role Overview

We are seeking a highly skilled Azure APIM Ops with Bicep Developer to design, implement, and manage API Management (APIM) solutions in a modern cloud-native environment. This role requires deep expertise in Azure API Management, Infrastructure-as-Code (IaC) using Bicep, and CI/CD automation to ensure consistent deployments across multiple environments (Dev, Test, Performance, and Production).

The ideal candidate will collaborate with architects, DevOps engineers, and integration teams to operationalize and optimize API platforms while ensuring security, scalability, and compliance with enterprise standards.

Key Responsibilities

1. APIM Operations & Management

• Configure, manage, and monitor Azure API Management (APIM) instances.
• Implement and enforce policies for authentication, authorization, logging, throttling, and routing.
• Manage APIM resources including APIs, Products, Groups, Diagnostics, and Named Values.
• Troubleshoot API failures, performance bottlenecks, and connectivity issues with backend services.

2. Infrastructure-as-Code (Bicep)

• Design and develop Bicep templates for provisioning APIM and related Azure resources.
• Create parameterized templates for multi-environment deployments (Dev, Perf, Prod).
• Manage Key Vault references (identityClientId, secretIdentifier) within APIM Named Values.
• Ensure IaC templates comply with governance, security, and naming conventions.
• Utilize APIM Ops Extractor and Publisher for automated APIM infrastructure provisioning.

3. CI/CD Automation

• Integrate Bicep templates with Azure DevOps Pipelines / GitHub Actions.
• Automate deployment of APIM artifacts (APIs, policies, diagnostics).
• Implement APIM Ops Extractor for exporting, version-controlling, and promoting APIM configurations.
• Support rollback, recovery, and environment synchronization processes.

4. Security & Compliance

• Configure Managed Identity authentication between APIM and Azure Functions/App Services.
• Replace dependency on function keys with AAD access token authentication.
• Ensure compliance with enterprise security frameworks (TLS 1.2+, AES-256 encryption, SOC2, etc.).

5. Monitoring & Observability

• Set up diagnostics and logging with Application Insights and Log Analytics.
• Create dashboards for API performance monitoring, error analysis, and usage insights.
• Implement proactive alerting for APIM health, SLA thresholds, and performance anomalies.

Required Skills

• Strong hands-on experience with Azure API Management (APIM) – policies, backends, diagnostics, named values.
• Proven expertise in Bicep IaC – templates, parameters, modules, deployments.
• Experience in building infrastructure using BICEP, APIM Ops Extractor, and Publisher.
• Strong knowledge of Azure DevOps Pipelines / GitHub Actions for CI/CD automation.
• Proficiency with Azure Key Vault integration in APIM.
• Familiarity with Azure Functions, Logic Apps, Event Grid, and Service Bus.
• Strong troubleshooting skills for API failures, policy debugging, connectivity issues.
• Working knowledge of Azure RBAC, Managed Identity, and AAD authentication.
• Experience with GitOps practices for API lifecycle management.

Nice-to-Have Skills

• Experience with YAML/JSON-based APIM configurations.
• Scripting skills with PowerShell or Azure CLI.
• Exposure to Terraform in addition to Bicep.
• Ability to write Kusto queries (KQL) for log analysis in Application Insights.
• Knowledge of multi-region API deployments and disaster recovery (DR) setups.
• Understanding of network security concepts (private endpoints, VNET integration, NSGs, firewalls).

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field.
• Minimum 4+ years of experience in Azure cloud development & operations.
• At least 2+ years of hands-on experience with APIM and Infrastructure-as-Code (Bicep).
• Relevant Azure certifications preferred (e.g., AZ-204, AZ-400, AZ-305, or API Management specialty).

Job Type: Contractual / Temporary

Contract length: 12 months

Pay: ₹60, ₹100,000.00 per month
