Role Overview

The General Manager – Operations will lead, scale, and optimize company-wide operations, ensuring timely delivery of solar projects within budget and at peak performance, while maintaining strict compliance with safety and quality standards.

Position Details

Job Title: General Manager – Operations

Location: Salem

Reporting To: CEO & Managing Director

Qualification: Bachelor's degree in Engineering or a related field

Experience: 20+ years (Solar/Power sector preferred), including a minimum of 5 years in senior leadership

Compensation: Not a constraint for the right candidate

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and execute long-term operational roadmaps to support company growth and market expansion.
  • Take full ownership of the operations budget, driving cost-efficiency and maximizing project margins.
  • Monitor and report on critical metrics such as project cycle times and safety incident rates.
  • Manage the transition of projects from the sales/development phase through engineering, procurement, construction (EPC) and final commissioning.
  • Optimize the deployment of manpower, equipment and capital across multiple active sites.
  • Proactively identify and mitigate supply chain disruptions, regulatory hurdles or technical site challenges.
  • Join hands with Project design team in arriving suitable PV modules array layout (to suit the site condition both for Rooftop and Ground mounted). / Inverters lay out/ SLD / PV System report/shadow analysis so as to prepare DPR (Detailed project Report)
  • Ensure all installations meet or exceed local grid codes, engineering standards, and performance guarantees.
  • Build and mentor a high-performing cross-functional team (Project Managers, Engineers, Site Supervisors, and O&M Technicians.
  • Conduct a periodical review meeting with the Project Manager/Purchase
  • Manager/Store Manager/Factory Manager with regard to ongoing projects.
  • Assist the team in obtaining approval from Government bodies by preparing and submitting required documents / BGs (Bank Guarantees)
  • Communicate the Order details to all stakeholders to get them to gear up for executing the projects well ahead of time.
  • Responsible for developing and implementing an operations plan for profitability (cost reduction) in consultation with the CEO.
  • Responsible for assisting in budget preparation and expense management activities.
  • Responsible for developing strategies to improve overall quality, cost, and productivity in the installation process. (Supply all the materials required for the project as "ONE TIME IN FULL" (OTIF).
  • Assist the industrial customer in getting CEIG Safety approvals by submitting relevant documents like sanctioned load / proposed Solar Power plant AC capacity in KW /, Electrical wiring diagram/ Inverters serial number / Module serial number / Module Data sheet / SLD.
  • Assist domestic customers in obtaining a subsidy for the PMSG scheme by collecting necessary data from the customer and uploading in the TANGEDCOC portal
  • Address customer complaints and resolve defects to maintain a positive brand image/relationship.
  • Assist Management in Business development/ service improvement / timely completion of Mega-projects and NPD (New Product Development).
  • To ensuring 100% compliance with Health, Safety, and Environmental (HSE) regulations at all project sites.
