Role & responsibilities

To lead the procurement and sourcing activities for lithium-ion battery pack assembly operations, ensuring the timely availability of quality components, optimization of cost, and development of a robust vendor base to support production ramp-up and new product introductions.

Preferred candidate profile

1. Strategic Sourcing & Procurement

• Develop and implement procurement strategies for components such as Cells, BMS, busbars, harnesses, enclosures, connectors, fuses, fasteners, cables, insulation materials, and potting compounds.

• Manage end-to-end RFQ processes from inquiries, evaluation, negotiation, and vendor finalization.

• Align all procurements with BOM, PPAP documentation, and approved drawings/specifications.

• Monitor lead times, MOQ, and safety stocks as per production plans.

• Drive cost-saving initiatives through alternate sourcing and localization.

2. Vendor Development & Management

• Identify, evaluate, and onboard new vendors (domestic and import).

• Conduct supplier audits (QCDS) with Quality & SQE teams.

• Develop long-term vendor relationships and manage supplier performance reviews.

3. Material Planning & Control

• Coordinate with PPC and Stores for MRP-based material planning.

• Track material flow, ensure OTIF deliveries, and optimize inventory levels.

• Utilize ERP effectively for purchase tracking and MIS reporting.

4. Costing & Budget Management

• Prepare and manage annual procurement budgets.

• Negotiate rate contracts for key items (Cells, BMS, busbars, etc.).

• Monitor market trends of lithium cells, copper, and polymers.

5. Cross-functional Coordination

• Collaborate with R&D, NPD, and Quality for NPI and validation.

• Coordinate with Finance and Logistics for vendor payments and imports.

6. Compliance & Documentation

• Ensure adherence to ISO/IATF procurement procedures.

• Maintain PPAP, COA, RoHS, and REACH documentation.

• Support audit and traceability requirements.

Key Skills & Competencies:

  • Strong understanding of lithium-ion battery components and EV supply chain.

    • Excellent negotiation, analytical, and communication skills.

    • Knowledge of vendor development, import procurement, and cost analysis.

    • Hands-on ERP experience (SAP / Tally Prime / Odoo).

    • Familiarity with technical drawings, PPAP, and ISO/IATF systems.

    • Cross-functional leadership and decision-making skills.

Qualifications:

  • B.E. / B.Tech – Mechanical / Electrical / Industrial Engineering.

    • MBA / PGDM – Materials or Supply Chain preferred.

    • Experience: Deputy Manager: 5–8 years; Manager: 8–15 years in EV battery / component manufacturing.

Key Performance Indicators (KPIs):

  • Cost reduction achieved vs. target (%).

    • On-time material availability (OTIF).

    • Supplier PPM / Quality performance.

    • Procurement lead time adherence.

    • Vendor development & localization progress.
