Coton Code is a Tirupur-based knitwear manufacturer and exporter trusted by premium fashion brands across Europe, the UK, and North America for 25+ years. We're now launching an independent premium brand from Chennai—blending Western classics with South Indian craft and contemporary design. Although we're backed by Coton Code's manufacturing depth, this brand operates as a true startup: fast cycles, high ownership, and hands-on collaboration with product and production.

About the Role

This is a founding creative position. You'll be the solo designer and creative head at launch—shaping the brand vision, building the first capsules, and laying the creative and process foundations in close partnership with the founder. As we grow, you'll build and lead the design team. Initially, you'll own the full design lifecycle end-to-end: concept, line planning, tech packs, sampling, fit, and storytelling.

Structure: Contract/project to start, with a clear pathway to full-time founding employee status plus profit-sharing/phantom equity for the right long-term fit.

What You'll Do

  • Define the brand's creative language, seasonal narratives, and design direction.
  • Design seasonal collections for men and women with a knitwear-first focus.
  • Source and evaluate fabrics, trims, and samples; develop a practical fabric/trim library.
  • Drive proto → SMS → pre-bulk; ensure bulk aligns with fit, finish, and cost targets.
  • Establish lightweight workflows (line plans, tech packs, asset libraries); set standards future hires can scale.
  • Grow and lead a small design team as the brand scales.

What You'll Need

  • A high sense of ownership and bias to action.
  • Bachelor's in Fashion Design (NIFT/FIT/Parsons/LCF or equivalent preferred).
  • Portfolio showing knitwear strength, fit sensitivity, trims/finishes, and commercial judgment.
  • Strong Adobe Illustrator; comfort with measurement charts, grading logic; basic 3D (CLO/Browzwear) is a plus.
  • Technical understanding of materials and processes in garment making.
  • Experimental mindset.
  • Ability to balance trend insight with timeless silhouettes across mens/womens.
  • Passionate about fashion & culture.
  • Organized, independent, and fast in iteration.
  • International exposure is a bonus.
