Position Overview

At ACER Credit Rating, we are dedicated to providing transparent, independent, and timely credit ratings and research that empower investors and support market efficiency. We are seeking an experienced Data Scientist / Risk Modeling Analyst who will be responsible for credit risk model development across sectors. This role involves building, validating, and enhancing quantitative and qualitative models that support credit rating decisions, risk assessments, and financial forecasts. We seek candidates with a strong foundation in finance, statistics, and data analytics who can contribute from day one.

Key Responsibilities

Model Development & Enhancement

  • Design, implement, and refine statistical and econometric models to support credit rating methodologies
  • Build models for key risk parameters, including Probability of Default (PD), Loss Given Default (LGD), and Expected Loss (EL)
  • Contribute to macroeconomic scenario analysis and stress testing frameworks

Model Validation & Monitoring

  • Conduct performance testing, benchmarking, and sensitivity analysis of existing models
  • Implement validation protocols to ensure models meet internal standards and regulatory requirements
  • Recommend enhancements based on validation outcomes and business feedback

Data Analysis & Management

  • Work with large, structured and unstructured datasets from multiple sources to support model calibration and back-testing
  • Perform exploratory data analysis and statistical testing to inform model assumptions

Documentation & Communication

  • Prepare comprehensive model documentation for internal committees, governance teams, and regulators
  • Communicate complex quantitative findings clearly to non-technical stakeholders, including rating analysts and senior management

Collaboration & Support

  • Liaise with cross-functional teams including Ratings, IT, Compliance, and Data Engineering
  • Provide analytical support during credit rating committee discussions and reviews

Statistical & Technical Skills Required

  • Strong command of statistical methods such as multivariate analysis, multiple linear regression, and other advanced statistical methodologies
  • Proficiency in Python for data manipulation and statistical modelling
  • Excellent analytical, quantitative, and problem-solving skills

Candidate Profile

  • Bachelor's degree (or higher) in Data Science, Statistics, Mathematics, Finance, Economics, or related field
  • Proficiency in Python, R, and statistical modeling
  • Strong financial and analytical skills with deep understanding of credit risk including strong understanding of finance and accounting concepts.
  • Willingness to be fungible across sectors and regions
  • Excellent analytical & communication skills.
  • Ability to work on multiple assignments under strict timelines.
