Job Description

The Principal, Strategy – Senior Director is a senior leader within Freshworks' global Strategy team, responsible for shaping and driving the company's most important strategic priorities. Reporting directly to the VP of Strategy, this leader will partner with the CEO, CFO, Sales Leaders, and other members of the Executive Leadership Team on projects that help define Freshworks' future.

This role offers a consulting-like environment with the pace of a SaaS company: combining structured problem solving with hands-on execution, and moving seamlessly from board-level strategy design to operational delivery. The Principal will lead a small, high-impact team in India and work closely with the Strategy team in the United States and stakeholders globally.

Key Responsibilities

• Tackle Freshworks' hardest problems by leading strategic projects that address company-defining priorities.
• Engage directly with senior executives, serving as a trusted thought partner to the VP of Strategy and the Executive Leadership Team.
• Lead and grow a high-impact team in India, developing talent and building a culture of analytical rigor, speed, and results.
• Collaborate seamlessly across geographies, working closely with colleagues in the U.S. headquarters and global functions to ensure alignment and impact.
• Develop board-level and investor-facing materials, as well as internal strategy communications that shape Freshworks' narrative.
• Perform market, competitive, and financial analysis — from business cases and scenario models to investment evaluations.
• Translate strategic priorities into execution, ensuring initiatives are clearly scoped, milestones are tracked, and outcomes are delivered.
• Represent the Strategy function in India, fostering cross-functional partnerships and ensuring high visibility across the organization.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree required; MBA strongly preferred.
• years of professional experience in strategy, management consulting, or corporate strategy/operations leadership roles.
• Deep analytical skills and data analysis skills
• Ability to translate data into actionable insights that affect change in the business
• Proven ability to engage and influence executive leadership, shaping decisions at the CEO/CFO level.
• Strong financial modeling and business case development capabilities.
• Familiarity with SaaS business models and technology markets.
• Ability to thrive in dynamic, fast-paced environments, shifting fluidly between high-level strategy and hands-on execution.
• Exceptional communication, problem-solving, and stakeholder management skills.
• Experience building and leading small teams, with a demonstrated ability to recruit, mentor, and scale talent.
