How You Will Contribute:
  • Oversee the successful deployment of medium to large-scale EF&I projects within customer networks, ensuring delivery within scope, budget, and schedule while maintaining Ciena's quality standards.
  • Drive achievement of targeted service margins, accurate revenue recognition, and adherence to committed schedules and deliverables that meet customer expectations for quality and service.
  • Serve as the primary interface for all project-related communications, escalations, and governance with customer organizations.
  • Provide subject matter expertise during pre-sales activities, contributing to customer proposals and RFP responses.
  • Collaborate with internal stakeholders, including franchise leaders, program managers, operations teams, field teams, sales, system engineers, bid management, service delivery groups, and finance, to meet project deliverables and financial targets.
  • Lead risk identification, mitigation strategies, and complexity reviews while tracking risks and actions throughout the project lifecycle.
  • Ensure quality in all aspects of project services, from site and network engineering to installation, testing, and Ready for Service (RFS).
     
The Must Haves:
  • A technical degree in a related field or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • PMP certification preferred (required within one year of hire).
  • Minimum of 10+ years of operational experience in the telecommunications industry or related project implementation.
  • 8+ years of experience in a leadership role, managing medium to large-scale professional services projects.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office tools, including Word, PowerPoint, and Excel.
  • Strong communication skills, including formal presentations and written correspondence.
  • Proven ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously, prioritize critical tasks, and meet deadlines effectively.
     
Nice to Haves:
  • Subsea deployment experience.
  • Expertise in business and financial management, particularly project-level P&L.
  • Negotiation skills for engaging with customers, internal resource owners, and external suppliers.
  • Familiarity with Ciena's products and technologies.
  • Experience working in a matrix management environment, motivating teams without direct reporting relationships.
  • Knowledge of fiber optic or high-speed data communications.
  • A proactive and self-driven approach to managing responsibilities and initiatives.
