AM - Logistics

Role Summary:

The Assistant Manager Logistics, Warehouse & SCM will be responsible for overseeing the end-to-end movement of goods across the supply chain, including inbound and outbound logistics, warehouse management, inventory control, and coordination with production and sales teams. The role focuses on improving efficiency, optimizing costs, and ensuring timely delivery of products to customers and distributors in line with FMCG operational standards.

Key Responsibilities:

1. Logistics & Distribution Management

• Plan, schedule, and monitor daily dispatches to ensure timely and accurate deliveries.
• Manage transportation operations—route planning, transporter coordination, and freight optimization.
• Ensure adherence to service-level agreements (SLAs) for delivery timelines and cost efficiency.
• Oversee reverse logistics for product returns, replacements, and damages.
• Ensure compliance with all statutory and documentation requirements for logistics operations.

2. Warehouse Management

• Oversee end-to-end warehouse operations, including goods receipt, storage, order picking, and dispatch.
• Ensure implementation of FIFO/FEFO and batch management practices.
• Maintain accurate stock records and conduct periodic cycle counts and physical stock audits.
• Monitor space utilization, storage layout, and ensure safety & housekeeping standards.
• Coordinate manpower deployment and optimize productivity within warehouse operations.
• Ensure compliance with hygiene, safety, and fire safety standards as per FMCG norms.
• Implement warehouse automation tools and improve process efficiency (e.g., WMS, barcode systems).

3. Inventory Management

• Maintain optimal inventory levels to balance demand and minimize holding costs.
• Collaborate with demand planning and procurement teams for stock replenishment.
• Track slow-moving and near-expiry inventory and take timely action.
• Reconcile inventory variances between system and physical stocks.

4. Supply Planning & Coordination

• Work closely with production and sales teams to align supply chain operations with market demand.
• Support daily order fulfillment planning and manage dispatch priorities.
• Ensure smooth coordination between plants, warehouses, and regional distribution centers.

5. Vendor & Transporter Management

• Identify, evaluate, and onboard logistics and warehouse vendors as per company standards.
• Monitor transporter and warehouse vendor performance through defined KPIs.
• Negotiate freight and storage rates to achieve cost savings.
• Ensure compliance with contracts, SLAs, and legal requirements.

6. Reporting & Continuous Improvement

• Prepare and present daily, weekly, and monthly MIS reports (inventory, logistics cost, delivery performance, etc.).
• Identify process improvement opportunities to enhance service levels and reduce turnaround time.
• Support implementation of best practices in logistics, warehousing, and supply chain management.
• Drive cost optimization and operational efficiency initiatives.

• Strong understanding of logistics, warehouse operations, and supply chain principles.
• Excellent leadership, team coordination, and problem-solving skills.
• Proficiency in MS Excel, ERP/WMS systems (SAP / Oracle / Tally ERP).
• Strong data analysis and reporting abilities.
• Effective communication and stakeholder management.

Educational Qualification:

• Graduate / Postgraduate in Supply Chain, Logistics, Operations, or Business Management.
• Professional certification in Supply Chain or Logistics Management preferred.

Experience:

• 4 to 8 years of experience in logistics, warehousing, or supply chain management within the FMCG industry.
