Head/AVP of Finance & Accounts

Role summary

The Finance Manager will be responsible for the overall financial health of the company. You will lead the finance function of the organization and with combining strategic planning will deliver hands‑on execution. This role owns financial reporting, statutory compliance, treasury, internal controls, and team leadership to ensure accurate, timely financial information and robust compliance for domestic and international operations.

Key responsibilities

  • Financial planning and control
  • Lead annual budgeting, quarterly forecasting, and variance analysis.
  • Manage cash flow and maintain a rolling 90‑day cash forecast.
  • Drive cost control, project profitability analysis, and margin improvement.
  • Provide strategic financial insights and recommendations to senior management.

Reporting and MIS

  • Own month‑end, quarter‑end, and year‑end closes and produce P&L, Balance Sheet, and Cash Flow statements.
  • Prepare and present MIS to leadership with actionable insights and variance commentary.
  • Ensure month‑end close is completed within stipulated time frame.

Statutory compliance and audit

  • Own GST, TDS, Income Tax, PF, ESI, and Professional Tax compliance and filings, ensuring 100% on‑time submissions.
  • Manage FEMA and RBI related export remittance processes including LUT, FIRC, and e‑BRC handling.
  • Act as primary liaison for statutory and tax auditors and drive timely closure of audit observations.

Internal controls and process improvement

  • Design, implement, and monitor internal financial controls and SOX readiness practices.
  • Maintain financial data confidentiality and participate in vendor risk assessments.

Team leadership and stakeholder management

  • Lead and mentor the finance team; define roles, set performance expectations, and manage vendor relationships (payroll, tax consultants, banks).
  • Collaborate with Sales, Delivery, HR, and Legal on contract accounting, invoicing, and revenue recognition.
  • Approve payments within the defined authority matrix and oversee reconciliations.

Qualifications and experience

  • Education:
    MBA Finance preferred; CA Inter with relevant experience considered.
  • Experience:
    8–10 years progressive finance experience, with minimum 2 years in a managerial role.
  • Sector:
    Mandatory prior experience in IT/ITES finance and project accounting.

Technical skills and tools

  • Accounting systems:
    Experience with Tally Prime, Zoho Books, QuickBooks; experience with ERP systems such as SAP Business One, Oracle NetSuite, or similar preferred.
  • Excel:
    Advanced Excel skills including PivotTables, VLOOKUP/XLOOKUP, and financial modelling.
  • Compliance:
    Strong working knowledge of Indian taxation, FEMA regulations, and export accounting (LUT, FIRC, e‑BRC).
  • Other:
    Familiarity with payroll systems and integrations.
