Job Summary:

We are seeking a highly skilled Application Support Engineer with hands-on expertise in Perl, Python, and Shell Scripting, along with a strong foundation in Unix/Linux environments, monitoring tools, and incident management. The role involves working in a shift-based model to ensure smooth operations, timely incident resolution, and automation of key processes. The ideal candidate will be proactive, analytical, and capable of working independently in a fast-paced production environment.

Key Responsibilities:

• Work alongside the existing team members on a shift basis to ensure continuous system availability and support.
• Perform daily monitoring and incident management, ensuring all business-critical systems are operational.
• Conduct Ready For Business (RFB) and End of Day (EOD) checks as part of routine operational readiness.
• Handle fault finding and issue resolution based on problem tickets and direct escalations from users or IT groups.
• Execute weekend checkouts and weekend readiness tests as per schedule.
• Provide on-call support coverage as required.
• Maintain and enhance global monitoring processes and procedures.
• Participate in the implementation and rollout of new services, tools, and technologies.
• Document, implement, and adhere to operational and technical standards, best practices, and process documentation.
• Log and track Incident Tickets and Problem Tickets, ensuring thorough follow-up and closure.
• Manage JIRA-based tasks through Kanban boards (scripting, monitoring, tool support, and non-incident work).
• Participate in Disaster Recovery (DR) testing activities.
• Develop and maintain automation scripts using Perl, Python, and Unix Shell scripting to improve operational efficiency.
• Utilize Unix surveillance and troubleshooting tools (e.g., grep, awk, tail, ps, netstat) for issue investigation.
• Identify, debug, and resolve complex system and application issues through structured analysis.
• Use observability and monitoring tools such as Prometheus, Grafana, and PagerDuty for proactive monitoring.
• Demonstrate a strong understanding of relational database concepts and basic SQL syntax for querying and validation.
• Collaborate closely with cross-functional teams including development, infrastructure, and operations to ensure system reliability.

Required Skills & Qualifications:

• Strong programming and scripting skills in Perl, Python, and Unix Shell scripting.
• Proficiency in Unix/Linux environments, with hands-on experience in troubleshooting and performance tuning.
• Experience with monitoring tools such as Prometheus, Grafana, and PagerDuty (or equivalent).
• Strong understanding of relational databases and ability to write basic SQL queries.
• Proven experience in incident management, root cause analysis, and application support.
• Familiarity with ITSM tools such as JIRA, ServiceNow, or similar platforms.
• Excellent analytical, debugging, and problem-solving skills.
• Strong communication skills and the ability to work effectively in a global team setup.
• Flexible to work in rotational shifts and provide on-call support as needed.

Good to Have:

• Exposure to data science concepts, statistics, or mathematical modeling.
• Familiarity with automation frameworks or DevOps tools.
• Prior experience in financial services, technology operations, or enterprise production environments.
• Knowledge of ITIL processes (Incident, Problem, Change Management).

Education:

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Mathematics, or related discipline.
