An Accounting Manager (CA) oversees the financial accounting operations of an organisation, ensuring accuracy, compliance, and efficiency in all financial processes. The role involves managing the accounting team, preparing financial statements, ensuring regulatory compliance, supporting audits, and providing financial insights that support strategic decision-making.

Key Responsibilities1. Financial Reporting & Compliance

  • Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements.
  • Ensure compliance with IFRS/GAAP, tax laws, and regulatory requirements.
  • Review and approve journal entries, reconciliations, and financial schedules.
  • Lead statutory audits and liaise with internal and external auditors.

2. Accounting Operations Management

  • Oversee general ledger, accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll, and fixed assets.
  • Implement and enforce strong internal controls and accounting policies.
  • Streamline accounting processes and improve operational efficiency.

3. Budgeting & Forecasting

  • Assist in the preparation of budgets, forecasts, and financial plans.
  • Monitor budget performance and provide variance analysis.
  • Provide financial insights for management decision-making.

4. Team Leadership

  • Manage, mentor, and evaluate accounting staff.
  • Coordinate workload and ensure timely completion of accounting tasks.
  • Promote a culture of accuracy, accountability, and continuous improvement.

5. Taxation & Compliance

  • Oversee tax filings (corporate tax, VAT/GST, payroll taxes).
  • Ensure timely submission of regulatory reports and compliance documents.
  • Advise management on tax implications and financial risks.

Skills & Competencies

  • Strong technical accounting knowledge (IFRS/GAAP)
  • Excellent analytical and organisational skills
  • Leadership and team-management capabilities
  • Strong understanding of financial controls and audit processes
  • Proficiency in accounting software (SAP, Oracle, QuickBooks, etc.)
  • High attention to detail and accuracy

Typical Qualifications

  • Chartered Accountant (CA) designation (mandatory)
  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field
  • 5–10 years of progressive accounting experience (varies by employer)
  • Experience in leading an accounting team or department
