What you'll be DOING

What will your essential responsibilities include?

  • Help to define how we create impact, engage stakeholders and add value, while delivering high-quality actuarial work that supports AXA XL's Asia growth strategy across multiple markets.
  • This is not just another reserving role – you will be entrusted to support the team in: Designing our local statutory actuarial reserving workflows. Executing exploratory analyses / reviews of our portfolio to determine appropriate segmentation, methodology. Adjusting our general approach/methodologies for specific lines, markets, or branches based on your judgment. Having impactful discussions on results, assumptions and emerging experience with local business units. Liaising with other actuarial specialists / SMEs within the central actuarial reserving team.
  • Perform actuarial reporting for a complex and dynamic commercial and specialty lines book with global exposure. Our markets include regional hubs which service global companies through multiple channels.
  • As a team, we are collectively responsible for Statutory Reporting and Business Partnering
  • Have technical guidance from senior team members, both locally and globally, and be mentored to gain both breadth and depth of experience in various markets/lines/topics.
  • Statutory reporting: Statutory actuarial reserving for Hong Kong, Singapore and Malaysia (Labuan markets). Stress-testing, as required by the local regulators and/or for the Own Risk and Solvency reports (ORSA). Actuarial aspects of local regulatory returns, including risk-based capital, IFRS 17 and reinsurance support.
  • Business partnering: Engaging with key business stakeholders to help understand and interpret the business, and to explain actuarial decisions (local, regional, divisional). Provide meaningful insights on business-specific issues.

What you will BRING

We're looking for someone who has these abilities and skills:

Required Skills and Abilities:

  • Qualified / nearly qualified Actuary (IFoA, CAS, SOA, IoAA qualifications)
  • Relevant years of experience in P&C insurance and/or actuarial consultancy
  • Robust experience in Python, SQL and/or R in a work context.
  • Outstanding analytical and modeling capabilities with research and problem-solving skills.

Desired Skills and Abilities:

  • Experience with at least one of the items below will be viewed favourably: Hong Kong, Singapore or Malaysia regulatory reporting. Commercial and/or specialty lines of business
  • Ability to work with minimum supervision and problem-solving ability – particularly an ability to lead the design and build out of solutions.
  • Ability to handle multiple priorities and tight deadlines.
  • Able to work with and influence stakeholders at all levels, both locally and remotely.
