Position Summary

The Database Engineer will ensure smooth operation and optimization of enterprise data platforms, primarily Snowflake and SQL Server, while supporting and maturing the Azure data stack. This role bridges operational support and future-focused engineering by maintaining the integrity of existing systems and designing pipelines that enable scalable, cloud-native infrastructure. This position is based in Hyderabad, India.

Principal Responsibilities

  • Support and optimize existing database technologies (Snowflake, SQL Server).
  • Troubleshoot and improve query performance and schema design.
  • Build and manage data pipelines using Azure Data Factory and Synapse Analytics.
  • Conduct proactive monitoring, health checks, and performance tuning.
  • Collaborate with engineering and business stakeholders to modernize the data platform.
  • Ensure SLA compliance and effective incident/change management.
  • Show flexibility in working with clients across multiple time zones.
  • Deliver production support for databases and data pipelines, handling incidents, performance bottlenecks, and schema-related changes.
  • Monitor database health and proactively address alerts, ensuring high availability and reliability.
  • Contribute beyond core responsibilities where needed, embracing the startup culture of agility.

Qualifications

  • Strong expertise in Snowflake, SQL, and data warehouse design principles.
  • Experience with Azure SQL Database, Synapse Analytics, and Data Lake.
  • Knowledge of ETL/ELT pipelines and performance optimization.
  • Familiarity with incident/change management tools like JIRA.

Minimum Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in computer science, IT, or related discipline.
  • 5–7 years of database engineering or support experience.
  • Proven background in database performance tuning and administration.
