Role Overview

XDLINX Space Labs is seeking a Senior Thermal Design Engineer to lead the design, analysis, and validation of spacecraft thermal control systems for our next-generation satellite platforms. The ideal candidate will bring expertise in thermal engineering principles, hands-on experience with spacecraft hardware, and the ability to drive innovative solutions that ensure mission success in challenging space environments.

Key Responsibilities

· Lead the thermal design and analysis of spacecraft, subsystems, and payloads across all mission phases (concept to flight).

· Develop and maintain thermal mathematical models (TMMs) using industry-standard tools (e.g., Thermal Desktop, ESATAN-TMS, SINDA/FLUINT).

· Define and implement thermal control strategies (passive and active, including MLI, coatings, heaters, loop heat pipes, and OSRs).

· Perform thermal balance and thermal vacuum (TVAC) test planning, execution, and correlation with models.

· Collaborate with systems, mechanical, avionics, and power engineering teams to ensure thermal design consistency and compliance.

· Evaluate thermal impact of mission environments (LEO, MEO, GEO, interplanetary).

· Support trade studies for thermal solutions considering mass, power, and cost constraints.

· Mentor junior engineers and contribute to building internal capabilities in spacecraft thermal engineering.

Required Qualifications

· Bachelor's degree in Aerospace Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Thermal Sciences, or related field.

· 8+ years of experience in spacecraft/satellite thermal design and analysis.

· Demonstrated expertise with thermal analysis software (Thermal Desktop, ESATAN, SINDA/FLUINT, etc.).

· Strong understanding of heat transfer mechanisms in space (conduction, radiation, phase change, coatings).

· Proven experience in thermal balance / TVAC testing and correlation.

· Knowledge of thermal design considerations for batteries, avionics, payloads, and propulsion systems.

· Experience working with international thermal standards (ECSS, NASA, ISRO guidelines).

Preferred Skills

· Master's or Ph.D. in Thermal/Space Systems Engineering.

· Experience in multi-mission spacecraft programs (LEO, deep space)

· Familiarity with CubeSats and Micro Sats thermal challenges.

· Exposure to AI/ML techniques in thermal analysis and anomaly detection.

· Strong communication skills for technical documentation and design reviews.

· Ability to lead cross-disciplinary teams and drive design decisions.
