We are looking for a qualified and experienced Safety Officer to join our team in the high-flammable industry, specializing in handling hazardous materials such as chemicals, acids, and gases. The Safety Officer will be responsible for ensuring compliance with safety regulations, implementing safety protocols, and promoting a safe working environment. The ideal candidate must have experience in industries with high-risk operations involving flammable substances and must be well-versed in managing safety precautions at an advanced level.
Key Responsibilities:
Safety Compliance:
Ensure compliance with local, state, and federal safety regulations, especially those concerning hazardous materials like acids, chemicals, and gases.
Conduct regular safety audits and inspections to identify and mitigate potential hazards in the workplace.
Risk Assessment & Management:
Perform risk assessments specific to high-flammable materials, processes, and equipment.
Develop and implement safety measures to reduce risks related to handling, storage, and transportation of dangerous chemicals and gases.
Safety Protocol Development:
Create, update, and enforce safety protocols, emergency response plans, and standard operating procedures (SOPs) in alignment with industry best practices for high-risk environments.
Ensure high-level safety precautions are in place, including fire prevention, explosion protection, and proper ventilation systems.
Training & Education:
Conduct safety training sessions for employees, contractors, and visitors on best practices for handling flammable materials and chemicals.
Provide guidance on the proper use of personal protective equipment (PPE) and emergency response techniques.
Incident Investigation & Reporting:
Investigate safety incidents, near-misses, and accidents to determine root causes and recommend corrective actions.
Prepare and maintain safety reports, documentation, and incident records for internal use and regulatory compliance.
Emergency Preparedness:
Develop and coordinate emergency drills, including fire, chemical spill, and evacuation procedures.
Ensure all emergency equipment, including fire extinguishers, gas detectors, and spill kits, are maintained and functional.
Safety Culture Promotion:
Foster a strong safety culture by promoting awareness and accountability for safety throughout the organization.
Liaise with regulatory bodies and external safety consultants to ensure the facility meets all legal and safety requirements.
