Job Description – Bolt Machine Setter & Operator

Department: Production

Location: Singur (Rift Industries & Engineering Pvt. Ltd.)

Employment Type: Full-Time

Position Overview

We are seeking a skilled and disciplined Bolt Machine Setter & Operator to set up, operate, and maintain bolt-making machines (Cold Forge/Hot Forge) used in manufacturing bolts ranging from M10 to M45. The candidate must ensure machines run safely, efficiently, and consistently produce high-quality fasteners as per specifications.

Key ResponsibilitiesMachine Setup & Adjustments

  • Set up Header, Trimmer, and Thread Rolling machines for bolt sizes as per production plan.
  • Select appropriate dies, punches, cutters, and tooling according to bolt dimensions and grade.
  • Adjust machine parameters such as stroke, feed, alignment, cutting length, and rolling pressure.
  • Perform changeovers quickly with minimal downtime.

Machine Operation

  • Operate bolt-forming machines, ensuring continuous and smooth production flow.
  • Monitor machine performance and product quality during operation.
  • Correct any misalignment, feeding issues, or tooling problems.
  • Maintain required production output and efficiency targets.

Quality Control

  • Measure first-piece samples using vernier, micrometer, thread gauges, and length gauges.
  • Conduct in-process inspections to ensure bolts meet dimensional and grade requirements.
  • Identify defects—such as cracks, underfill, off-head, improper thread, bending—and take corrective action.
  • Ensure compliance with ISO, BIS, and internal quality standards.

Maintenance & Housekeeping

  • Perform basic preventive maintenance such as lubrication, cleaning, and tightening.
  • Report major mechanical or electrical issues to the maintenance team.
  • Keep machine and surrounding area clean and organized.

Safety & Compliance

  • Follow all factory safety protocols and use PPE at all times.
  • Ensure machines are running within safe load limits.
  • Immediately report unsafe conditions or incidents.

Required Skills & Experience

  • Minimum 2–5 years experience as a bolt/fastener machine operator or setter.
  • Hands-on experience with:
  • Cold Forge Headers (up to M24)
  • Hot Forge Headers (up to M45)
  • Trimmer Machines
  • Roll Thread Machines
  • Good understanding of tooling, die-setting, and machine behaviour.
  • Ability to read technical drawings and measure dimensions accurately.
  • Knowledge of bolt grades (4.6, 5.6, 8.8, 10.9 etc.) and relevant standards (IS/ISO).
