Manager (Safety) Bridge Construction

Role & responsibilities

Develop, implement, and monitor the project-specific safety plan (HSE Plan) in line with statutory and client requirements.

Conduct risk assessments, job safety analyses (JSA), and hazard identification for various site activities including excavation, piling, scaffolding, formwork, working at heights, heavy lifting, and concrete works.

Ensure compliance with applicable labour laws, Factories Act, BIS/IS codes, and MoRTH/IRC safety guidelines.

Supervise and guide the site safety team (Safety Officers, Supervisors, etc.) and coordinate with site engineers, contractors, and workers.

Conduct toolbox talks (TBTs), safety induction training, and refresher safety courses for all workers and staff.

Monitor use of PPE, safety signage, barricading, and emergency equipment across the construction site.

Investigate incidents, near misses, and accidents; maintain records and submit reports with root cause analysis and corrective actions.

Organize mock drills, emergency response training, and first-aid training in coordination with the medical team.

Conduct regular safety audits, site inspections, and maintain all safety documentation and permits (Work at Height, Confined Space Entry, Hot Work, etc.).

Liaise with client safety representatives, consultants, and external safety inspectors.

Ensure environmental compliance regarding waste management, dust suppression, and noise control as per project requirements.

Preferred candidate profile

Bachelors Degree/Diploma in Engineering (Civil/Mechanical preferred)

NEBOSH IGC / IOSH Managing Safely

Minimum 8 years of HSE experience, preferably with 5+ years in bridge or infrastructure construction

Thorough knowledge of IS codes, MoRTH specifications, IRC guidelines, and Indian safety regulations

Hands-on experience in managing safety on complex bridge projects involving steel erection, segment launching, falsework, and heavy lifting operations

Strong leadership, training, and communication skills

Proficiency in report writing and safety documentation
