To make video as accessible to machines as text and voice are today.

At lookup, we believe the world's most valuable asset is trapped. Video is everywhere, but it's unsearchable—a black box of insight that no one can open or atleast open affordably. We're changing that. We're building the search engine for the visual world, so anyone can find or do anything with video just by asking.

Text is queryable. Voice is transcribed. Video, the largest and richest data source of all, is still a black box. A computer can't understand it, and so its value remains trapped.

Our mission at lookup is to fix this.

When video is truly accessible to machines, it doesn't just mean a person can finally search their archives. It means an entirely new generation of automated workflows, creative tools, and intelligent applications can be built. We are not just building an app; we are building the API for software to see the world

About the Role

We're hiring a Founding Generalist to help shape Lookup from the ground up.

This is not a specialist role. It's a high-agency, high-ownership position for someone who thrives in ambiguity and gets energized by solving problems no one has defined yet. You'll work across GTM, product, sales, research, and strategy— moving fluidly between talking to customers, building pitch decks, analyzing markets, supporting pilots, and shaping the company's vision alongside the founders.

You're someone who doesn't wait to be told what to do. You identify what needs to happen and make it happen. You're just as comfortable cold-calling a prospect, writing a product brief, or digging into competitive intelligence as you are presenting insights to investors or the exec team.

This role is ideal for a recent MBA grad with 1–2 years of pre-MBA work experience, or anyone with a similar profile who's demonstrated excellence across functions and thrives in 0→1 environments. An MBA is not a requirement — we care about capability, curiosity, and grit but would not want to waste time in understanding how a business works.

What You'll Do

• Talk to customers constantly — run discovery calls, capture feedback, understand pain points, and translate them into product and GTM insights.

• Support go-to-market efforts — from crafting messaging and positioning to helping close early pilots and partnerships.

• Conduct market and competitive research — map out landscapes, identify opportunities, and inform strategic decisions.

• Build decks, briefs, and narratives — for investors, customers, internal strategy sessions, and product planning.

• Be a bridge across product, engineering, and sales — synthesizing feedback, translating technical capabilities into business value, and keeping everyone aligned.

• Own special projects and initiatives — whatever is most urgent and important, you'll take it on and drive it to completion.

• Shape Lookup's vision, culture, and operating rhythm — you'll be in the room where strategy is made.

Who You Are

• 1–3 years of work experience, ideally in consulting, product, strategy, or high-growth startups. MBA is a plus but not required.

• An excellent communicator and writer — you can craft clear, compelling narratives for any audience.

• A natural problem solver who thrives in ambiguity and loves rolling up your sleeves.

• Comfortable wearing multiple hats — GTM, product, research, sales support, analyst work — and switching between them daily.

• Intellectually curious and fast — you learn quickly, ask sharp questions, and connect dots others miss.

• Hands-on and scrappy — no task is too small if it moves the company forward.

• Collaborative and low-ego — you work well with founders, engineers, designers, and customers alike.

• Bonus: experience in SaaS, developer tools, AI, or early-stage startups.
