Job Title: AI/ML Tower Head

Location: Kolkata

Experience: 14+ years overall, with at least 7+ years in Data Science / AI / ML leadership

Reports To: Head of Digital / CTO / Delivery Head

Role Overview:

The AI/ML Tower Head will lead the Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning vertical, driving strategy, solution development, and delivery excellence across enterprise projects. This role is responsible for establishing AI/ML capabilities, nurturing a strong technical team, managing client engagements, and ensuring business growth through innovative data-driven solutions.

Key Responsibilities:

Strategic Leadership:

  • Define and implement the AI/ML roadmap aligned with organizational digital transformation goals.
  • Establish and lead the AI/ML Center of Excellence (CoE) focusing on scalable and reusable frameworks.
  • Partner with CXOs, delivery leaders, and clients to identify AI-driven business opportunities.

Technical Leadership:

  • Oversee end-to-end lifecycle of AI/ML projects from data ingestion and feature engineering to model deployment and monitoring.
  • Lead teams across areas such as Natural Language Processing (NLP), Computer Vision, Predictive Analytics, and Generative AI.
  • Ensure the use of cutting-edge technologies (Python, TensorFlow, PyTorch, OpenAI APIs, Azure ML, AWS SageMaker, etc.).
  • Govern MLOps practices ensuring automation, scalability, and model governance.

Team & Capability Development:

  • Build, mentor, and scale AI/ML teams comprising data scientists, ML engineers, and AI architects.
  • Define competency frameworks, training paths, and certification goals.
  • Drive a culture of innovation and continuous learning in the team.

Delivery & Governance:

  • Ensure timely, high-quality delivery of AI/ML solutions across projects.
  • Establish best practices for AI project estimation, delivery methodologies, and quality assurance.
  • Define KPIs for performance, efficiency, and ROI tracking of AI initiatives.

Pre-Sales & Business Growth:

  • Partner with sales and solution teams in RFP/RFI responses and client presentations.
  • Create AI solution accelerators and thought leadership collaterals.
  • Identify and pursue new business opportunities leveraging AI/ML capabilities.

Required Skills & Qualifications:

  • Proven experience in managing large AI/ML programs in enterprise environments.
  • Hands-on expertise in Python, TensorFlow, PyTorch, Scikit-learn, MLflow, and data visualization tools.
  • Strong understanding of cloud platforms Azure, AWS, or GCP.
  • Familiarity with GenAI tools and LLM frameworks (OpenAI, LangChain, Hugging Face, etc.).
  • Excellent leadership, communication, and stakeholder management skills.
  • Prior experience in setting up AI CoE or delivery tower is highly desirable.

  • Microsoft Certified: Azure AI Engineer Associate / Data Scientist Associate
  • AWS Certified Machine Learning Specialty
  • Google Professional Machine Learning Engineer
  • Executive Program in AI/ML from reputed institutions (IIM, ISB, Stanford, etc.)
