Position Overview

As a Senior Backend Developer, you will be responsible for designing, developing, and maintaining backend services and APIs using Java and Spring Boot within a microservices-based architecture.

You will work closely with frontend developers, DevOps engineers, and product teams to ensure that backend systems are scalable, reliable, and efficient.

You will play a key role in architecting solutions that align with modern engineering standards, with a focus on API design, database management, and system optimization.

Key Responsibilities

1. Backend Design & Development

• Develop, maintain, and optimize backend applications using Java, Spring Boot, and Microservices Architecture.
• Build RESTful and GraphQL APIs to connect with frontend applications built in , ensuring smooth integration and performance.
• Design and implement scalable, secure, and maintainable services that support large user bases and complex workflows.
• Work on backend logic, data storage, and communication between distributed services.
• Implement best coding practices, reusable modules, and design patterns for long-term maintainability.

2. Microservices Architecture

• Design, develop, and maintain independent and reusable microservices that communicate via REST APIs, message queues, or event-driven systems.
• Manage service discovery, API gateway integration, and inter-service communication strategies.
• Ensure fault tolerance, scalability, and monitoring of microservices in a distributed environment.
• Collaborate with DevOps engineers to deploy and manage services on Docker or Kubernetes.

3. Database Design & Data Management

• Develop and manage database schemas, stored procedures, and queries (RDBMS and NoSQL).
• Optimize database queries and ensure efficient data retrieval and storage.
• Design and maintain data flow and ETL processes for backend systems.
• Implement data security, privacy controls, and access management as per project requirements.

4. Integration with Frontend (React, JavaScript, CSS)

• Collaborate closely with frontend developers to design robust, flexible, and efficient APIs.
• Ensure seamless communication between React-based UIs and backend services.
• Understand frontend needs related to data contracts, request/response structures, and state management.
• Participate in integration testing and troubleshooting between frontend and backend teams.

5. Performance, Security & Optimization

• Implement caching mechanisms, asynchronous processing, and load balancing strategies for high-performance applications.
• Secure APIs and data exchanges using JWT, OAuth2, SSL/TLS, and encryption best practices.
• Conduct code reviews, debugging, and performance tuning to ensure optimal backend efficiency.
• Build automated unit and integration tests to ensure high-quality deliverables.

6. Collaboration, Leadership & Agile Development

• Work within an Agile/Scrum team structure, attending sprint planning, reviews, and daily stand-ups.
• Collaborate with Product Managers and Solution Architects to translate business needs into technical solutions.
• Lead and mentor junior developers by enforcing clean code practices and technical documentation standards.
• Participate in architecture reviews and contribute to continuous improvement initiatives.

Technical Skills & Qualifications

Core Backend Skills

• Strong experience in Java (8 or higher) and Spring Frameworks (Spring Boot, Spring Data, Spring Security).
• Expertise in RESTful API development and Microservices Architecture.
• Solid understanding of Object-Oriented Design, SOLID principles, and Design Patterns.
• Familiarity with message brokers such as Kafka, RabbitMQ, or ActiveMQ.
• Experience with database technologies such as MySQL, PostgreSQL, MongoDB.

Frontend Collaboration

• Exposure to frontend technologies such as , JavaScript (ES6+), HTML5, and CSS3.
• Experience working in teams that utilize React-based UI frameworks integrated with Java/Spring Boot backends.
• Understanding of frontend-backend integration, CORS policies, and API versioning.

Cloud, DevOps & Tools

• Experience deploying services on cloud platforms (AWS / Azure / GCP).
• Familiarity with CI/CD pipelines (Jenkins, GitHub Actions, GitLab CI).
• Experience with containerization tools such as Docker and orchestration platforms like Kubernetes.
• Knowledge of monitoring and logging tools such as ELK Stack, Prometheus, or Grafana.

Version Control & Build Tools

• Proficiency in Git, Maven, and Gradle.
• Familiarity with JIRA, Confluence, and Agile project management tools.

Preferred Qualifications

• Bachelors or Masters degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related fields.
• Experience with GraphQL APIs, WebSockets, or Reactive Programming (Spring WebFlux).
• Familiarity with Test-Driven Development (TDD) and Continuous Integration pipelines.
• Prior experience working on Healthcare, FinTech, or Enterprise-scale platforms.
• Certifications in Java, Spring Boot, or Cloud Platforms (AWS/Azure).
