SUMMARY

Job Description: Functional Tester   Credit Cards &

Payments Domain

Key Responsibilities

1. Functional Testing

Perform functional, integration, system, and end - to - end testing for credit card

platforms and payment applications.

Validate card lifecycle processes such as  application, issuance, authorization,

clearing, settlement, collections, rewards, chargeback/disputes , etc.

Execute test scenarios for payment instruments including  credit cards, debit cards,

prepaid cards, virtual cards, and tokenized payments.

Test transaction flows across channels like  POS, e - commerce, mobile wallets, UPI,

payment gateways, and card networks.

2. Test Design & Documentation

Analyze BRDs, FSDs, and user stories to create detailed  test plans, test cases, and

RTM .

Document test results, defects, and status reports using standard QA tools (JIRA,

ALM, Azure DevOps, etc.).

Ensure test coverage and quality standards are met before release.

3. Domain Expertise

Understand card scheme rules (Visa, Mastercard, Amex, RuPay) and

ISO8583/ISO20022 message formats.

Validate  authorization, fraud checks, risk rules , and transaction reconciliation.

Test settlement, interchange fees, billing cycles, interest calculations, refunds,

reversals, and adjustments.

Familiarity with regulatory frameworks (RBI/NPCI guidelines, PCI - DSS

compliance).

Required Skills & Experience

3 5 years of experience in  functional testing , preferably in the  banking, fintech, or

payments domain.

Strong understanding of  credit card lifecycle , card operations, and payment

processing.

Experience testing payment gateways, POS transactions, and real - time payment

systems.

Knowledge of ISO message formats, chargeback flows, and reconciliation processes.

Ability to write SQL queries for test data validation.

Hands - on experience with defect management and test management tools.

Strong analytical and communication skills.
