Job Description

Responsible for different aspects of Ethernet engineering activities to evaluate L2/L3 network elements and qualify services/custom solutions on ethernet platform. This is a planning/support role, responsible for delivering results that have direct impact on day-to-day engineering operations/ Tier 3 support to operation teams in the respective areas of Core Ethernet Network.

Responsibilities

  • Involved in planning, architecture designing, developing, and testing solutions and service products riding on network.
  • Involved in the development of systems including storage, servers, and routers/switches in the lab.
  • Manage physical connectivity, hardware & automation tools in the lab.
  • Resolve issues based on escalations from the internal/end user.
  • Perform integration with existing systems and conduct service validation prior to hand over to Service Operations team.
  • Direct the assurance team in adopting measures for fault rate & ticket rate reduction.
  • Ensure engineering/lab Projects completed within target dates within budget and agreed scope.
  • Performance tuning and automation of application.
  • Ensure timely rollout of system enhancements, bug fixes, migration, deployment, and optimization projects.
  • Prepare and release the Design/Architecture documents and procedure documents to OPS teams.

Desired Skill sets
  • CCNP certification, L2/Switching technologies - VLAN, RSTP/MSTP, ERPS.
  • Layer 3 technologies /L3 protocols - IP routing, OSPF, MPLS, BGP, Segment Routing.
  • Experience in system and platform deployment over the network layers
  • Experience of managing systems including storage, test sets, servers, and routers/switches
  • Knowledge of new and upcoming network system, application, and network technologies
  • Knowledge of network security and its applications
  • Testing the l2/l3 NEs and IP/Ethernet based custom solutions.
  • Experience in cisco software (XR) testing / SMU testing.
