Job Title : Software Engineer Practitioner

Location : Chennai

Position Summary :


We are hiring a skilled Software Engineer Practitioner to join our clients industrial automation team. The role involves the development of Industrial Communication Drivers and Gateways to connect PLCs and other factory equipment with enterprise and cloud systems.

This position is ideal for professionals with strong experience in industrial automation, networking, and systems integration who are passionate about enabling smart factory solutions.

Key Responsibilities :


- Develop, test, and maintain communication drivers and industrial gateways.

- Implement industrial protocols (CIP, Profinet, OPC UA, Modbus TCP, etc.).

- Collaborate with automation and IT teams to ensure secure, scalable integrations.

- Troubleshoot networking and OS-level issues across Windows and Linux environments.

- Follow Agile development methodologies with version control and unit testing practices.

Mandatory Skills :


- 5+ years in software development, preferably in industrial automation

- Strong proficiency in C/C++, C#, Java, or Python

- Hands-on experience with industrial communication protocols (CIP, OPC UA, Ethernet/IP, etc.)

- Solid understanding of TCP/IP networking, sockets programming

- Experience in Linux and Windows environments

- Familiar with Git, issue tracking, and debugging tools

Preferred Skills :

- Experience with OPC UA, MQTT, or IoT messaging protocols

- Familiarity with PostgreSQL, SQL Server, or NoSQL databases

- Knowledge of PLC platforms (Siemens, Rockwell, Beckhoff)

- Experience in cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, GCP)

- Exposure to containerization (Docker, Kubernetes)

- Understanding of industrial cybersecurity, RTOS, and SCADA/MES systems

- Experience working in regulated industries like Automotive

Education : Bachelors Degree in Computer Science, Electronics, Electrical, or a related field
