Job Summary:

Responsible for the complete cycle of new part development — from concept design, drawing creation, process planning, and prototype development to final PPAP submission. The role requires both engineering execution and design capabilities using CAD software, ensuring the part is manufacturable, cost-effective, and meets customer specifications.

Key Responsibilities:

Design & Engineering:

  • Study customer specifications, reference samples, and functional requirements.
  • Prepare 2D drawings and 3D models using CAD software (SolidWorks, AutoCAD, CATIA, etc.).
  • Apply GD&T and ensure dimensional accuracy and functional performance.
  • Modify and update drawings based on customer feedback or development challenges.
  • Design fixtures, gauges, and tooling as required for part manufacturing and inspection.


New Part Development:

  • Conduct design feasibility and maneuverability analysis.
  • Develop and validate process flow, PFMEA, and control plan.
  • Define material, welding, machining, coating, and assembly processes for new parts.
  • Support first sample development and coordinate with internal and external teams.


Sample Submission & Documentation:

  • Prepare and submit full PPAP documentation including drawing, process documents, inspection reports, and test certificates.
  • Coordinate with quality team for layout inspection, CMM validation, and special characteristic verification.
  • Interface with customers for approval of samples and design validation.


Cross-functional Coordination:

  • Work closely with Quality, Production, and Purchase teams to ensure timely development.
  • Support tooling and fixture development with suppliers and internal tool room.
  • Participate in APQP meetings and customer audits.


Technical Support & Compliance:

  • Ensure all designs and developments are aligned with IATF 16949 / VECV / OEM standards.
  • Maintain engineering change records and revision control.
  • Provide technical support for cost estimation and RFQs.

Key Skills & Competencies:

  • Strong knowledge of

  • Ability to handle multiple projects and meet development timelines.
  • Strong analytical, communication, and documentation skills.

Educational Qualification:

  • Diploma / B.E. / B.Tech
    in
    Mechanical / Production / Automobile Engineering

Preferred Industry Background:

  • Automotive Parts / Sheet Metal / Fabrication / Heavy Engineering / Component Manufacturing
