Job Role Quality Head

Reporting to Plant Head

Work location : Gurugram , Haryana

Salary : 25lpa To 28lpa

Role Overview

  • Lead and drive the quality assurance function across the site.
  • Develop quality policies, ensuring consistency in quality standards, regulatory compliance, and continuous improvement.

Key Responsibilities

1. Strategic Quality Leadership

  • Design and implement comprehensive Quality Management Systems (QMS) aligned with ISO 9001, IATF/TS 16949 or equivalent standards.
  • Define quality objectives and KPIs, monitor performance, and report to Plant Head.

2. Quality System Development & Deployment

  • Create and standardize quality control protocols, PPAP documentation, audit procedures, and CAPA workflows across all plants.
  • Oversee internal and supplier quality audits and ensure timely closure of findings.

3. Continuous Improvement & Root Cause Analysis

  • Analyze quality metrics and customer feedback to identify improvement areas.
  • Champion 6 Sigma, SPC, Lean, 5S, Kaizen and other methodologies to reduce defects and drive efficiencies.

4. Cross-functional Collaboration & Customer Quality Interface

  • Coordinate with production, engineering, and procurement to address quality issues and implement corrective actions.

5. Staff Leadership & Development

  • Build and lead a team of quality managers/engineers. Provide mentoring, training, and succession planning.

6. Compliance, Audits & Certifications

  • Ensure compliance with relevant industry standards (ISO, IATF) and maintain certifications.
  • Coordinate and prepare for external audits (customer, third-party, regulatory).

7. Supplier Quality Management

  • Develop supplier quality expectations and monitor supplier performance.
  • Conduct supplier audits and collaborate on corrective actions for incoming material quality.

Qualifications & Experience

  • Education: Bachelors/Masters in Mechanical, Industrial, Manufacturing Engineering or related field.
  • Experience: 1015 years in quality assurance within sheet metal or automotive manufacturing, with 5 years in a leadership role overseeing multiple plants.
  • Certifications: ISO 9001 Lead Auditor, Six Sigma Green/Black Belt, certifications in Lean or related QMS methodologies.

  • Statistical Process Control (SPC), PPAP, FMEA

  • Auditing (internal, supplier, external)
  • ERP and quality data systems, Microsoft Excel and reporting tools
  • Leadership, team-building & communication
  • Cross-functional collaboration and stakeholder management

  • Defect per Million Opportunities (DPMO) / PPM rate reduction
  • Customer rejection rate and claims
  • Audit closure rate and CAPA effectiveness
  • Supplier quality performance
  • Achievement of certification and audit readiness
