Role Overview

As a Team Lead – Mortgage Processing & Underwriting, you will be responsible for leading a team of associates and process leads in the US mortgage loan origination domain. Your focus will be on achieving operational excellence, ensuring SLA adherence, coaching team members, and driving process enhancements.

This position requires strong leadership, domain expertise in US mortgage operations, and a solution-driven mindset to manage performance, client expectations, and continuous improvement.

Key Responsibilities

• Supervise and manage a team of associates and process leads handling mortgage origination tasks.
• Oversee workflow allocation, work queues, and ensure timely task completion.
• Own SLA and metrics management, with a strong focus on quality and efficiency.
• Collaborate with managers to drive workflow optimization, training, reporting, and process improvements.
• Resolve complex queries and escalations from internal and external stakeholders.
• Monitor team attendance and performance; conduct regular evaluations and reporting.
• Coach and develop team members to achieve high performance and meet client expectations.
• Coordinate with internal departments to ensure smooth operations and issue resolution.
• Deliver performance dashboards and updates to senior management.

Candidate Requirements

• Minimum 10+ years of experience in US mortgage loan origination, with 2+ years in a team lead role.
• Deep expertise in underwriting various loan types: Conventional, FHA, VA, USDA, and Non-QM.
• Strong communication skills in English (both verbal and written).
• Solid understanding of the end-to-end US mortgage loan origination and underwriting processes.
• Strong interpersonal and leadership skills; ability to motivate and drive team success.
• Proficient in MS Office, especially Excel and PowerPoint, for performance reporting.
• Familiarity with basic Federal regulations and compliance requirements.
• Analytical mindset with the ability to interpret data and present performance summaries.
• Detail-oriented, organized, and capable of working in a fast-paced environment.
• Willing to work in night shifts (US time zone) from our Kothanur office in Bangalore.
