Role Description

This is a full-time on-site role for an MEP Estimation Engineer located in Chennai. The engineer will be responsible for MEP coordination, electrical engineering, plumbing, and building services in day-to-day tasks related to estimating electro-mechanical projects and turnkey solutions.

Job Summary

The MEP Estimation Engineer will be responsible for preparing accurate and competitive cost estimates for MEP projects. This role involves analyzing project specifications, drawings, and other documentation to quantify materials, labor, and equipment costs. The ideal candidate will have a strong technical background in MEP systems, excellent analytical skills, and the ability to work under tight deadlines to support our business development and project management teams.

Key Responsibilities

  • Quantity Take-off (QTO): Perform detailed take-offs from architectural and MEP drawings for all trades (Mechanical-HVAC, Electrical, Plumbing, Fire Protection).
  • Cost Analysis: Research, analyze, and compile data on material, labor, equipment, and subcontractor costs.
  • Vendor & Subcontractor Liaison: Solicit and evaluate quotes from suppliers and subcontractors to ensure competitive pricing.
  • Estimate Preparation: Prepare comprehensive cost estimates, including direct and indirect costs, overhead, profit, and contingencies using Excel.
  • Bid Proposal Development: Assist in the preparation of professional and well-structured bid proposals and tender documents.
  • Technical Review: Analyze tender documents, specifications, and contract terms to identify risks, opportunities, and technical requirements.
  • Value Engineering: Suggest alternative materials or methods to reduce costs while maintaining quality and compliance.
  • Collaboration: Work closely with the project management, engineering, and business development teams to ensure estimates are realistic and align with project goals.
  • Database Management: Maintain and update the cost database and historical data for future reference.

Required Qualifications & Experience

  • Education: Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a related field.

  • Experience: A minimum of 1-5 years of proven experience in MEP estimation, specifically within the construction industry.
  • MEP Coordination and Plumbing skills
