Assistant Senior Engineer Duties and Responsibilities

  1. Technical Support & Execution

  2. Assist the Senior Engineer in overseeing technical aspects of project execution including site layout, foundation, installation, and structural works.

  3. Read, understand, and support implementation of engineering drawings, technical specifications, and client requirements.
  4. Ensure work execution follows approved drawings, quality standards, and safety norms.
  5. Provide day-to-day technical support to site engineers, supervisors, and foremen.
  6. Identify on-site technical issues and report them to the Senior Engineer with possible solutions.

  7. Assist in quantity calculations, BOQs, and verification of work quantities.

  8. Planning & Scheduling Assistance

  9. Support preparation of work plans, schedules, and daily activity charts.

  10. Assist in coordinating with design, procurement, and other departments for smooth workflow.
  11. Help monitor daily, weekly, and monthly progress at site.
  12. Track project timelines and inform the Senior Engineer about delays or constraints.

  13. Assist in preparation of progress reports and site updates.

  14. Client & Site Coordination

  15. Support the Senior Engineer during client meetings, inspections, and site discussions.

  16. Assist in coordinating approvals for drawings, layouts, and execution changes.
  17. Maintain professional communication with client representatives at site.

  18. Ensure client instructions are properly communicated to site teams.

  19. Material Management Support

  20. Assist in planning material requirements as per project schedule.

  21. Monitor material usage at site and report shortages or excess consumption.
  22. Coordinate with stores and purchase departments for material availability.
  23. Verify material issue slips and assist in maintaining stock and consumption records.

  24. Help ensure materials are used efficiently with minimum wastage.

  25. Support for New Projects

  26. Assist in site surveys, feasibility studies, and technical assessments for new projects.

  27. Support estimation, BOQ preparation, and tender documentation.
  28. Participate in initial site mobilization and setup activities.

  29. Assist in supervising early-stage works during project kick-off.

  30. Manpower Supervision

  31. Assist in allocation and supervision of manpower at site.

  32. Monitor work productivity and ensure tasks are executed as per plan.
  33. Guide junior engineers, supervisors, and workers in daily activities.
  34. Ensure compliance with safety rules, labor discipline, and site regulations.

  35. Coordinate manpower requirements with the Senior Engineer and HR team.

  36. Reporting & Documentation

  37. Maintain daily site records including work progress, manpower, and material usage.

  38. Prepare daily and weekly reports for review by the Senior Engineer.
  39. Assist in documentation of drawings, revisions, approvals, and client communications.

  40. Support preparation of completion reports and handover documents.

  41. Learning & Continuous Improvement

  42. Learn and implement best practices in construction methods and site management.

  43. Share observations and suggestions to improve efficiency and quality.
  44. Participate in review meetings and apply learnings to ongoing and future projects.
