Job Description

Position Title: EHS (Environment, Health & Safety) In-Charge

Locations Covered: Manesar, Badli, Jhajjhar & Chennai Plants

Experience Required: 7-12years

Employment Type: Full-Time

1. Job Purpose

The EHS In-Charge is responsible for developing, implementing, and sustaining all Environment, Health, and Safety systems, processes, and programs across Tricolite Electrical Industries manufacturing plants.

The role ensures compliance with statutory requirements, fosters a strong safety culture, minimizes environmental impacts, and safeguards employee well-being while supporting business continuity and operational excellence.

2. Key Deliverables

  • Maintain 100% compliance with all applicable EHS regulations and internal standards.

    • Drive a zero-incident culture through proactive risk identification and mitigation.

    • Lead ISO 14001 & ISO 45001 system implementation and ensure effective audits.

    • Establish EHS performance metrics and dashboards for all four plants.

    • Champion sustainability and resource optimization initiatives (energy, water, waste).

3. Roles and Responsibilities

A. Environmental Management

• Ensure compliance with the Air Act, Water Act, Environment Protection Act, and Hazardous Waste Rules.

• Manage consent renewals (CTE/CTO), hazardous waste authorization, and related statutory documentation.

• Oversee segregation, storage, transportation, and disposal of hazardous and non-hazardous waste through authorized vendors.

• Conduct periodic monitoring of emissions, effluents, and ambient noise levels.

• Implement pollution prevention and sustainability initiatives, including energy conservation, recycling, and water management.

B. Occupational Health & Safety

• Develop and implement plant-level safety management systems covering all high-risk areas.

• Conduct Job Safety Analysis (JSA), Risk Assessments (RA), and ensure SOPs are in place.

• Oversee electrical safety, LOTO, and machine guarding compliance.

• Lead incident investigations, identify root causes, and ensure CAPA closure.

• Maintain incident and near-miss records, and track safety indicators.

• Ensure medical surveillance, occupational health checks, and ergonomics monitoring.

• Develop and maintain Emergency Response Plans (ERP); conduct mock drills.

C. Training & Awareness

• Conduct EHS induction, refresher, and contractor safety training programs.

• Run toolbox talks, safety campaigns, and awareness drives to promote safety culture.

• Maintain training records and evaluation data.

D. Compliance & Auditing

• Maintain an EHS compliance calendar and ensure timely statutory renewals.

• Conduct internal safety audits and inspections across all units.

• Support external and third-party audits and ensure closure of findings.

• Ensure readiness and compliance with ISO 14001:2015 and ISO 45001:2018 standards.

• Prepare and present monthly EHS performance reports to management.

E. Operational Control & Risk Management

• Participate in design reviews and process modifications to assess EHS risks before implementation.

• Ensure safe handling, storage, and use of chemicals and paints as per MSDS.

• Implement and monitor Work Permit Systems for high-risk jobs.

• Coordinate with production and maintenance teams to integrate EHS in operations.

F. Vendor & Contractor Safety

• Evaluate EHS compliance of suppliers, contractors, and service providers.

• Ensure contractors undergo EHS induction and adhere to site safety requirements.

• Conduct periodic audits of contractor performance and take corrective actions.

G. Reporting & Continuous Improvement

• Maintain EHS documentation, inspection logs, and compliance registers.

• Track and analyze EHS KPIs and trends to develop proactive risk reduction plans.

• Drive continuous improvement projects in line with corporate sustainability goals.

• Benchmark and adopt best practices from the electrical manufacturing industry.

    • 100% statutory compliance and timely renewal of licenses.

    • Number of EHS trainings conducted and employees trained.

    • Reduction in hazardous waste and resource consumption.

    • Timely closure of internal and external audit findings.

    • Implementation rate of CAPA and near-miss reporting frequency.

  4. Strong knowledge of EHS legislation, ISO 14001 & ISO 45001 standards.

    • Expertise in electrical and fire safety for switchboard panel manufacturing.

    • Analytical and investigative approach for root cause analysis.

    • Effective leadership, communication, and coordination.

    • Data-driven mindset for EHS performance tracking and reporting.

  5. Qualification & Experience

  6. Education: B.E./B.Tech in Electrical / Mechanical / Industrial / Environmental Engineering.

    • Certifications: Diploma in Industrial Safety (mandatory); NEBOSH / IOSH preferred.

    • Experience: Minimum 7 years in EHS roles within electrical, switchgear, or heavy engineering industries.

  7. Organizational Reporting Structure

Reports To: Chief People Officer

Supervises: EHS Officers / Plant Safety Coordinators (at each plant)

Coordinates With: Production, Maintenance, HR, Quality, and Projects teams.

Internal: All plant departments, HR, Admin, and Top Management.

External: Regulatory bodies (SPCB, Factories Inspectorate), auditors, vendors, and waste recyclers.
