Job Title: Ingest Operator

Department: Digital Media Services

Location: Mumbai

Role Summary:

The Ingest Operator within the Digital Media Services (DMS) team is responsible for managing the end-to-end ingestion of digital media assets for content processing, localization, and delivery workflows. This includes receiving, validating, and preparing source materials from clients or partners to ensure they meet the required technical and operational standards for downstream processes.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Media Ingestion:

  • Ingest and organize digital assets (video, audio, subtitle, metadata files) received via client portals, FTP, or cloud-based delivery systems.

  • Validate incoming files against delivery specifications and internal standards.

  • Log and maintain accurate asset details in the Media Asset Management (MAM) or workflow tracking system.

  • File Management & Preparation:

  • Perform file conversions, transcoding, or rewrapping as per DMS workflow requirements.

  • Ensure compatibility of media formats for editorial, QC, and delivery stages.

  • Maintain clean and structured folder hierarchies across shared storage systems.

  • Quality & Compliance:

  • Conduct basic technical QC checks to confirm audio/video integrity, duration match, frame rate, and codec compliance.

  • Flag and escalate any discrepancies or corrupt files to the QC or Production teams.

  • Ensure all assets adhere to security and confidentiality protocols.

  • Coordination & Reporting:

  • Collaborate with QC, localization, and delivery teams to ensure timely and accurate content availability.

  • Track progress of ingested files and update workflow management tools or trackers.
  • Prepare and share daily ingestion status reports with leads or project coordinators.

Skills:

  • 1-3 years of experience in media operations, post-production, or digital content workflows.
  • Strong understanding of digital media formats, codecs, and wrappers (e.g., ProRes, DNxHD, MXF, MP4).
  • Hands-on experience with transcoding tools (e.g., Adobe Media Encoder, Telestream Vantage, or FFmpeg).
  • Familiarity with MAM/DAM systems and file transfer tools (e.g., Aspera, Signiant, FTP).
  • Working knowledge of QC standards for OTT and broadcast deliverables.
  • Detail-oriented, organized, and able to manage large volumes of assets under tight deadlines.
  • Comfortable working in rotational shifts as per production schedules.

Preferred:

  • Experience working with global media clients or content distributors.
  • Exposure to DMS processes such as mastering, versioning, or localization workflows.
  • Basic understanding of metadata structures and delivery specifications for platforms like Netflix, Amazon, or Disney+.
