Role Summary

We are seeking a Senior Communications Officer to lead NCPEDP's communications strategy, enhance organisational visibility, and strengthen our voice as a thought leader in disability rights. This role involves media advocacy, high-level stakeholder engagement, strategic content development, social and digital media leadership, and brand management, with accessibility and inclusivity embedded across all communication.

Key Responsibilities

  • Design and implement NCPEDP's communications strategy aligned with organisational priorities.
  • Lead media engagement, including drafting op-eds, press statements, and cultivating relationships with senior journalists/editors.
  • Oversee digital communications and campaigns, including content calendars, social media management, analytics, and paid media (Meta Ads, Google Ads).
  • Manage brand positioning across print, digital, and events; ensure consistent and accessible messaging.
  • Supervise development of publications, newsletters, annual reports, and knowledge products.
  • Provide strategic communications support for advocacy campaigns, research launches, and public events

  • Guide adherence to accessibility standards (alt-text, captions, plain language).
  • Mentor and support junior team members, interns, and vendors for design, multimedia, and printing.
  • Monitor and report on media coverage, campaign performance, and communication outcomes.
  • Represent NCPEDP at external forums, panels, and networks when required.

Requirements

  • Graduate/Post-graduate in Journalism, Mass Communication, Public Policy, or related field.
  • 6–10 years of progressive experience in communications/media/advocacy, ideally in the development or policy sector.
  • Strong writing and editing skills in English (proficiency in Hindi preferred).
  • Demonstrated experience in media relations, digital communications, and campaign leadership

  • Familiarity with accessibility and inclusive communication practices

  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and deliver under pressure.
  • Willingness to travel and work flexibly, including occasional weekends.

Skills & Competencies

  • Strategic communication and thought leadership.

  • Proficiency in digital tools (Meta Business Suite, Google Analytics, SEO).
  • Familiarity with design/editing software (Canva, Adobe Suite).
  • Project management and team coordination skills.
  • Commitment to disability rights, accessibility, and inclusive language.

Compensation

Salary will be commensurate with qualifications and experience.
