Project DEFY is a non-profit based in India, and functioning like a laboratory of radically new ideas for large social change. Our approach is in creating community leadership in various problem domains through self-designed learning and self-organisation. Our flagship creation is the
Nook

, which is a self-designed learning (SDL) space, where learners between the ages of 10 and 65 learn, completely deciding for themselves as to what, when and how they learn. There are 33 Nooks so far, based in India, Africa and Europe, 

Experience : 

  • Experience in handling Visual Design and Implementation for organizations (2 + years experience).
  • Should have experience in Visual Storytelling (videos, photo stories, illustrations, posters etc).
  • Demonstrated experience in Video documentation (shooting and editing).
  • Should have experience in Visual Branding and design projects- designing logos, branding collaterals for projects,pitch decks, reports etc.
  • Preferred experience of working with a non-profit especially in education/alternative. education or other related areas including creative and non-conventional endeavors.

  • Should be approachable and easy to work with different teams.
  • Comfortable with challenges and out of the box thinking.
  • Is a hands-on problem solver and can handle multiple tasks simultaneously.
  • Possess the capacity to withstand a  little chaos, and better still, thrive in it.
  • Understands or be willing to build an understanding of the core deficit of the mainstream education model.

Responsibilities and expectations:

Core

  • Being the organization's Point of contact for visual design and representation.
  • Coordinating with different teams for their visual representation.
  • Contribute towards ideation and brainstorming on campaigns, pitches etc.
  • Lead projects to create, organise and design necessary creatives.
  • Guiding field teams with templates and designs for collaterals.
  • Leading design sessions and activities for teams.
  • Oversee branding and visual design on all platforms of external communication

Technical

  • Skilled in Visual Design Platforms like (Canva/Photoshop/figma)
  • Skilled in Video shooting and Editing for Video Storytelling. (Adobe Premier Pro, Final Cut Pro)
  • Doodling or Illustration skills would be a great addition ( for preferred storytelling)

Hiring approach : The person will be hired directly by the Head of Communications in Bangalore. The candidates must go through the 4-step hiring approach of DEFY, consisting of General Interview, Maker task, Articulation task, Final interview.
