Role Overview
We are seeking an experienced Payroll Specialist with 5+ years of hands-on experience in managing global payroll operations, with a strong focus on UK and Europe payrolls. The ideal candidate will have proven expertise in end-to-end payroll processing, compliance, and reporting across multiple countries, with a preference for experience in Deel Payroll systems. This role reports to the HR Business Partner India, with the HR Business Partner Europe as a key stakeholder and dotted-line contact for the initial six-month period.
This is a hands-on role, requiring excellent technical payroll knowledge, strong stakeholder management and the ability to thrive in a dynamic evolving environment. You will act as main point of contact for payroll related-matters providing guidance to guidance to HR and Finance managing payroll providers and ensuring timely and compliant processing for all entities. The role demands strong analytical skills, attention to detail, and the ability to work collaboratively with cross-functional teams in a global environment.
Responsibilities
• Manage end-to-end payroll processing for multiple global entities, ensuring accuracy, timeliness, and compliance with
local regulations—particularly across UK and European countries.
• Administer payroll using Deel payroll or similar local payroll platforms and coordinating with HR, Finance teams to ensure
data integrity.
• Demonstrate in-depth knowledge of UK payroll legislation, including PAYE, NI, P11Ds, P60s, and BIKs, as well as a solid
understanding of European tax and social security frameworks.
• Review and validate inputs including new joiners, exits, variable pay, bonuses, tax, and statutory deductions.
• Ensure adherence to local tax laws, social security regulations, and statutory reporting requirements for each operating
country.
• Lead payroll reconciliation, manage payroll audits, approval workflows, and internal compliance checks ensuring
traceability.
• Act as the Subject Matter Expert (SME) for complex payroll queries and serve as the escalation point for local teams.
• Maintain up-to-date knowledge of payroll legislation changes and ensure their implementation.
• Administer and reconcile employee benefits programs, including health insurance, pensions, life insurance, and other
local perks.
• Generate payroll reports, dashboards, and analytics to support management decisions.
• Drive continuous process improvements and system enhancements to increase efficiency and accuracy.
• Provide employee support on payroll-related queries with professionalism and confidentiality.
• Bachelor's degree in HR, or related field; postgraduate qualification preferred.
• 5+ years of global payroll experience, with proven expertise managing payrolls across the UK and multiple European
countries.
• Experience with Deel or similar global payroll systems (preferred).
• Strong knowledge of taxation, statutory compliance, and social security frameworks across European countries. Strong
working knowledge of UK payroll legislation
• Highly organized, detail-oriented, and capable of managing multiple priorities under tight deadlines.
• Excellent proficiency in Excel
• Excellent English language skills, proficiency in another European language is desirable
• Strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.
• Ability to handle sensitive information with integrity and confidentiality.
• Collaborative mindset with the ability to work effectively in a global matrix organization.
• Exposure to payroll transition projects, automation initiatives, or system integrations.
