Reports To: Chief Financial Officer
Position Overview
GM– Accounts, Taxation & Audit will be responsible for leading the organization's finance and compliance functions, covering statutory accounting, direct and indirect taxation, audits, and internal controls. The role includes driving ERP implementation, developing robust SOPs, and ensuring compliance with industry-specific regulatory frameworks for infrastructure and construction projects.
Key Responsibilities
1. Accounting & Financial Management
- Oversee complete accounting operations in compliance with Indian Accounting Standards (Ind AS) and applicable laws.
- Supervise preparation and finalization of financial statements, including consolidation for group entities.
- Monitor project accounting, work-in-progress (WIP) valuation, and revenue recognition for EPC/infrastructure contracts.
- Ensure accuracy in asset accounting, depreciation, and cost allocation.
- Strengthen internal controls for cash flow, payments, receivables, and banking operations.
2. Audit & Statutory Compliance
- Manage statutory, internal, tax, and special audits to ensure timely completion.
- Ensure compliance with Companies Act, Income Tax Act, GST, and other applicable regulations.
- Liaise with auditors, tax consultants, and regulatory bodies to address queries and resolve audit findings.
- Implement audit recommendations to enhance governance and controls.
3. Taxation (Direct & Indirect)
- Lead corporate tax planning and compliance, including advance tax, TDS, and return filings.
- Oversee GST compliance, input tax credit management, reconciliations, and return filings.
- Structure tax-efficient arrangements for infrastructure projects.
- Represent the company in tax assessments, appeals, and hearings.
4. SOP Development & Implementation
- Develop, document, and implement Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) for accounting, taxation, and audit functions.
- Create project-specific SOPs for cost control, vendor billing, WIP recognition, and contract revenue.
- Conduct regular SOP reviews and updates to reflect changes in regulations and business operations.
- Train finance and operational teams to ensure adherence to SOPs across all sites.
5. ERP Implementation & Process Automation
- Lead ERP selection, implementation, and optimisation (ie ERP is Strategy).
- Define Chart of Accounts, cost centres, and project codes to align with infrastructure business needs.
- Integrate finance, procurement, project, and billing modules for seamless reporting.
- Implement automation for GST reconciliations, TDS computation, and MIS reporting.
- Set up real-time dashboards for project cash flows, receivables ageing, and budget variance tracking.
- Ensure smooth migration of historical financial data into ERP and maintain data integrity.
Required Qualifications & Skills
- Chartered Accountant (CA) with minimum 10 years of post-qualification experience in the infrastructure/construction sector.
- Strong knowledge of Ind AS, GST, Income Tax, Companies Act, and infrastructure sector compliance.
- Proven track record in handling large-scale audits, tax matters, and ERP system implementation.
- Expertise in developing and enforcing SOPs across multi-location operations.
- Strong leadership, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent communication and stakeholder management abilities.
