Key Responsibilities

  1. Material & Service Procurement

  2. Identify, evaluate, and select suppliers based on quality, cost, delivery, and service.

  3. Review and understand project BOQs, drawings, and technical specifications to determine material requirements
  4. Issue RFQs (Request for Quotation) and RFPs (Request for Proposal) to vendors and subcontractors.

  5. Negotiate terms, prices, and delivery schedules with suppliers.

  6. Vendor Management

  7. Develop and maintain relationships with reliable vendors for construction materials (cement, steel, aggregates, concrete, formwork, waterproofing, finishing materials, etc.).

  8. Conduct vendor audits and ensure compliance with quality standards.

  9. Cost & Budget Control

  10. Prepare cost comparison statements and recommend cost-effective solutions without compromising quality.

  11. Track procurement budgets and monitor spend against approved estimates.

  12. Logistics & Delivery Coordination

  13. Coordinate with site engineers, storekeepers, and logistics teams for timely delivery of materials.

  14. Resolve delivery, quality, or invoicing issues with suppliers.

  15. Documentation & Compliance

  16. Maintain purchase orders, contracts, and supplier records in ERP or procurement systems.

  17. Ensure compliance with company policies, statutory requirements, and safety standards.

  18. Strong technical knowledge of civil engineering materials and construction processes.

  19. Excellent negotiation, communication, and analytical skills.
  20. Proficiency in ERP systems (SAP, Oracle, or similar).
  21. Ability to manage multiple procurement packages simultaneously.
  22. Understanding of contract management and vendor compliance.

Qualifications

  • Mandatory:

  • B.E./B.Tech in Civil Engineering (preferred) or Diploma in Civil Engineering.

  • Preferred Add-ons:

  • PG Diploma in Materials Management (PGDMM) OR MBA/PGDM in Supply Chain / Operations Management.

  • Relevant certifications (CIPS, CSCP, etc.) will be an advantage.

  • 25 years (for mid-level) or 5+ years (for senior level) experience in procurement within the civil/construction industry.

  • Experience in high-rise residential, commercial, industrial, or infrastructure projects is an added advantage.
