Responsibilities

Responsibilities

The candidate shall possess the following skillset

1) Relevant Exposure in Financial Reporting & Financial compliances.

2) In-depth knowledge and experience in preparation of the financial statements of the company according to Local GAAP, Ind AS which includes Balance sheet, Profit & Loss account, Cash flow statements and other additional notes to accounts. Getting the first draft reviewed from the functional head. Should have exposure to IND AS for accounts finalization.

3) Periodic review and tracking of all month end activities for book closing. Preparation of Key BS and PL schedules and performing GL - sub ledger reconciliations on regular basis. 

4) Experience of Monthly Book closure activity which includes posting of GL entries, Re-class entries and other management entries in the ERP. Basic Knowledge of Oracle should be an added advantage.

5) Good technical knowledge of Schedule III/ Schedule VI of the Companies act, Income tax act, FEMA and other regulatory compliances

6) Ability to manage multiple audits i.e. Statutory audit, tax audits, IFC audit and Internal audit. Coordination with other functions for collection of audit details / information and handling first level audit queries. Further would be supporting the Inhouse audit team for conducting various internal WSP audits.

7) Good communication skills in terms of interaction with cross functions, external auditors and WSP group companies for any matter

8) Supporting secretarial team / external consultants in providing finance details relating to MCA filings, Directors report, CSR computation etc.

9) Supporting cross functional teams like AP, Procurement, Legal, Budgeting teams in providing relevant information related to finance.

Key Competencies

Mandatory Skills

A candidate should have minimum qualifications of Graduation (B.COM) plus MBA or CA (Inter) with atleast 8-10 years of experience in controllership area and should possess the following mandatory skills

  Strong Accounting & Reporting Knowledge

  • Deep grasp of Indian Accounting Standards (Ind AS) and IFRS. Ability to interpret and apply changes / new pronouncements
  • Experience with financial statements preparation: P&L, Balance Sheet, Cash Flow, including reconciliations, accruals, deferred revenue, etc. 

  Internal Controls & Compliance

  • Familiarity with Indian SOX ICFR, including documentation of controls, testing (design & operating effectiveness), remediation of control gaps. 
  • Understanding of audit process (internal & external), what auditors need (supporting schedules, audit trails) and ability to respond and coordinate with auditors. 

  General Ledger & Close Process Skills

  • Month‑end / quarter‑end / year‑end closing: making adjusting entries, accruals, deferred items, fixed asset accounting, etc. 
  • Balance sheet reconciliations, intercompany reconciliations, bank reconciliations, fixed assets, etc. 

  Technical / Complex Accounting Areas

  • Lease accounting, revenue recognition, FX, etc., depending on business requirements. 
  • Ability to prepare or analyse accounting policy memos or position papers, interpret accounting guidance or new standards. 

  Systems / Tools / Software Proficiency

  • Strong Excel skills (pivot tables, lookups, advanced formulas, maybe macros/VBA) 
  • Familiarity with ERP systems (Oracle.), group reporting systems, will be an added advantage
  • Ability to use data analytics / visualization tools (growing in importance) for variance analysis, dashboards etc. 

  Taxation / Regulatory Requirements

  • Knowledge of relevant statutory / tax compliance: local statutory reporting, tax audits, indirect taxes (GST etc.), accounting for taxes in financials. 
  • Understanding of the regulatory environment (SEBI, ministry filings, filing deadlines, etc.) as applicable.

  Process Improvement & Documentation

  • Ability to document accounting policies, process flows, SOPs. 
  • Identify inefficiencies, suggest and lead process automation or simplification.

Desired Skills

  • Proficiency with technical writing, office automation and accounting software, technology, math principles, spreadsheets, MS Excel, pivot tables, formulas, data format/sort/f ilter, VLOOKUP, predictive models, and tools
