About Civil & Urban Infrastructure Business: 

KEC's Civil business focuses on the construction of factories, warehouses, residential buildings, railway stations, metros, and sewage & water treatment plants, and comprises of four verticals –  

A. Infrastructure & Heavy Civil (Metro & Water Projects),  
B. Industrial & Hydrocarbon (Factories) ,  
C. Residential & Public Spaces (Buildings, Commercial Spaces),  
D. Defence (Civil projects in Defence sector).  

We provide professional EPC services in an area dominated either by small unorganized players or by very few large companies. Role Summary

The Manager – Mechanical will lead the mechanical engineering & maintenance function to ensure high equipment uptime, reliability, safety compliance, and efficient execution of preventive, predictive, and breakdown maintenance programs across the plant.

Key Responsibilities

  • Own and drive preventive & predictive maintenance for all mechanical assets.
  • Lead troubleshooting of repetitive/chronic failures and implement permanent corrective actions.
  • Plan, schedule, and execute shutdowns, overhauls, and mechanical projects (capex/modifications).
  • Ensure mechanical compliance with statutory norms, safety (LOTO, work-permit), and quality standards.
  • Drive reliability improvement using RCA, FMEA, RCM, MTTR/MTBF monitoring.
  • Optimize spares inventory, AMC/vendor performance, and maintenance cost.
  • Maintain CMMS discipline — work orders, PM compliance, histories, and KPI tracking.
  • Collaborate with Production, Projects, and Utilities for uptime and continuous improvement.
  • Lead, coach, and assess performance of mechanical maintenance team and contractors.

Required Qualifications & Experience

  • B.E./B.Tech in Mechanical Engineering (M.Tech preferred).
  • 8–15 years experience in mechanical maintenance in a continuous process / heavy industry environment (e.g. chemical, cement, steel, oil & gas, FMCG, pharma, automotive).
  • Hands-on exposure to rotating equipment (pumps, compressors, conveyors, fans, gearboxes) and utilities.

Required Skills & Competencies

  • Strong maintenance methods: PM/PdM, CMMS, RCA, TPM/Lean, 5S, Kaizen.
  • Knowledge of safety systems: LOTO, PTW, machine guarding, statutory compliance.
  • Vendor & contractor management, negotiation and cost control.
  • Strong people leadership, problem solving, and documentation discipline.
