Objective:

To manage and control all factory operations from raw material receipt to finished goods dispatch ensuring high productivity, quality consistency, on-time delivery, and adherence to safety and compliance standards.

Key Responsibilities

1. Production Planning & Control

  • Plan daily and weekly production schedules as per sales and dispatch requirements.
  • Monitor each production stage — foam cutting, quilting, assembly, tape edging, packaging — to ensure smooth workflow.
  • Coordinate with the planning and sales team for order prioritization.
  • Ensure optimal use of manpower and machines to achieve production targets.

2. Quality Management

  • Maintain strict quality standards at every stage of production.
  • Ensure adherence to mattress specifications (size, firmness, density, stitching, packaging).
  • Collaborate with the QC team to reduce rework and product returns.
  • Implement in-process inspection and final inspection systems.

3. Raw Material & Inventory Control

  • Monitor stock levels of foam, fabric, spring units, adhesives, and packing materials.
  • Ensure timely availability of raw materials without overstocking.
  • Coordinate with purchase and warehouse teams for material planning.
  • Control wastage and monitor material consumption ratios.

4. Machinery & Maintenance

  • Supervise maintenance of machinery such as foam cutting machines, quilting machines, tape edge machines, and spring coilers.
  • Schedule preventive maintenance to reduce breakdowns and downtime.
  • Ensure safe operation and upkeep of all production equipment.

5. Workforce Management

  • Supervise production supervisors, operators, helpers, and quality staff.
  • Manage shift planning and labor deployment efficiently.
  • Train and motivate staff for higher productivity and skill improvement.
  • Maintain discipline and safety culture across the shop floor.

6. Safety & Compliance

  • Enforce factory safety norms and use of PPE (gloves, masks, etc.).
  • Maintain clean and organized production areas (5S implementation).
  • Ensure compliance with labor laws, pollution norms, and factory act regulations.
  • Conduct safety drills and maintain first-aid readiness.

7. Cost & Efficiency Management

  • Monitor production costs and work towards reducing wastage, overtime, and rejections.
  • Improve process efficiency through layout optimization and automation initiatives.
  • Track daily production output, yield, and scrap reports.

8. Coordination & Reporting

  • Coordinate with the logistics, sales, and dispatch teams to ensure timely deliveries.
  • Submit daily production, material usage, and machine utilization reports to management.
  • Participate in management review meetings for operational updates and improvement plans.

9. Product & Process Development

  • Work with R&D and design teams for new product development and sample preparation.
  • Suggest process improvements for comfort, durability, and cost optimization.
  • Support trial runs for new machinery or materials.
