Overall Job Purpose

We are looking for a highly skilled Manager - Data Scientist to play a pivotal role in advancing our AI and ML initiatives within the asset management space. This role will focus on hands-on development of innovative data science solutions that enhance investment strategies and client engagement.

As a key contributor within the Data Science team, you will collaborate closely with cross-functional stakeholders across M&G Investments to translate business challenges into impactful analytical models. You will be responsible for designing and implementing advanced machine learning algorithms, contributing to the development of scalable AI products, and supporting the execution of our broader data science roadmap.

Key focus areas include leveraging large language models for investment research, developing sophisticated portfolio optimization algorithms, implementing advanced ESG analytics, and creating predictive models that enhance our investment decision-making capabilities across all asset classes.

Primary Key Responsibilities (Top 3-5 KRA)

• Develop and deploy advanced machine learning models on Azure to extract actionable insights from large-scale, multi-structured datasets relevant to asset management.
• Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders to drive end-to-end model development—from data exploration and feature engineering to validation, scoring, and production deployment within Azure ML pipelines.
• Act as an individual contributor while working closely with cross-functional teams to ensure seamless integration of data science solutions into investment workflows and decision-making processes.
• Continuously enhance model performance and scalability by leveraging Azure-native tools and services, ensuring alignment with business goals in portfolio optimization, ESG analytics, and predictive modeling.
• Maintain high standards of documentation and reproducibility, contributing to a robust and transparent data science practice.

Additional Responsibilities :

• Demonstrate strong proficiency in Python, with comfort using command-line tools for development and automation tasks.
• Apply advanced deep learning techniques, including LLM fine-tuning, dense neural networks, and custom neural network design using frameworks such as TensorFlow, Keras, PyTorch, DeepAI, or equivalent.
• Bring hands-on experience in delivering at least two NLP/text mining solutions, with a focus on extracting insights from unstructured financial and ESG data.
• Lead or contribute to at least one end-to-end machine learning project, from data ingestion and model development to deployment and monitoring in production.
• Exhibit strong SQL skills for efficient data extraction, transformation, and analysis across structured investment datasets.

Knowledge & Skills (Must Have) :

• Confidence & excellent communication
• Experience of working with Azure DevOps
• Experience of working with Databricks

Knowledge & Skills (Additional) :

• Experience of using machine learning in Asset management/investment domain preferred
• Experience of working with either AWS or Azure

Experience:

•  At least 4+ years of real world experience working as a Data Scientist.

Educational Qualification:

• Graduate/Masters in any discipline
