With a mission to build strong, self-sufficient communities, Project Mercy works on initiatives such as constructing schools, hospitals, skills training classes, agricultural development programs, and clean water delivery systems. The organization's efforts are grounded in active community participation and contribution, aiming for long-term multi-generational transformation.

The Computer Science Department at Project Mercy is looking for volunteers who are passionate about having a positive impact on people's lives. We are launching our demand linked Technology Up-skilling program for college graduates that helps them get employed by getting them certified with skills the employers need.

Role Description

This is a volunteer remote role for a Technical Mentor. The Mentor can choose between various roles such as teaching computer science topics, overseeing project groups, conducting workshops on tools and technologies, providing career development support to candidates, or sharing insights through guest lectures. The workload will be a maximum of 5 hours per week, with classes on weekends. The required class materials will be shared with our mentors ahead of time, and mentors can choose the subjects they want to teach. The engagement will last for 6 months with reduced commitment as students begin to pursue certifications. The preferences of the mentors will be considered.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Computer Science Degree and 2+ years of work experience in Software.
  • Strong understanding of Computer Science concepts and relevant technologies.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Experience in Cyber Security, Data Science, or Infrastructure Management would be a plus.
