Production Manager – Notebook Factory

Key Responsibilities:

Production Planning & Execution

  • Plan daily, weekly, and monthly production schedules based on sales and inventory requirements.
  • Allocate jobs and manage production lines (cutting, ruling, folding, binding, packing).
  • Monitor WIP (Work In Progress) and ensure minimal downtime.

Manpower & Shift Management

  • Manage shift-wise labor allocation (permanent and contract workers).
  • Supervise line staff, machine operators, and technicians.
  • Ensure productivity, discipline, and safety across all shifts.

Machine & Equipment Oversight

  • Ensure proper functioning of production machinery (e.g., ruling machines, binding lines, cutting units).
  • Plan preventive maintenance with the engineering team.
  • Minimize machine breakdowns and production loss.

Quality Control & Compliance

  • Ensure notebooks meet internal and customer quality standards.
  • Coordinate with QA/QC team for process checks and inspections.
  • Implement corrective actions on quality complaints or deviations.

Inventory & Material Management

  • Coordinate with stores and procurement for timely availability of raw materials (paper, covers, binding materials, etc.).
  • Ensure proper use and minimal wastage of raw materials.

Production Reporting & Documentation

  • Maintain daily production reports, machine-wise output logs, and shift reports.
  • Monitor key metrics like yield, scrap, downtime, and output per shift.

Health, Safety & Compliance

  • Ensure adherence to factory safety norms and labor laws.
  • Conduct safety drills and maintain compliance with local industrial regulations.

Key Skills & Competencies:

  • Strong understanding of notebook manufacturing processes (cutting, ruling, stitching, binding)
  • Knowledge of production planning, OEE, and line balancing
  • Experience in managing large teams and contract labor
  • Good leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills
  • Familiarity with ERP systems (preferred)

Job Types: Full-time, Permanent
