Overview

We are seeking an experienced Power BI Consultant to help our team establish a scalable, secure, and high-performing Power BI environment. The consultant will guide the development of dashboards, train junior analysts, and implement best practices for environment architecture, deployment, and governance. This role is advisory and oversight-focused: the consultant will not directly build every dashboard but will provide expert guidance, troubleshooting, and hands-on support as needed to ensure success.

Key Responsibilities

1. Dashboard Oversight & Administration

  • Oversee the design and development of performant Power BI dashboards for internal multi-user access.
  • Provide recommendations on layout, usability, and visualization best practices to optimize user experience.
  • Support implementation of Row Level Security (RLS) for external-facing dashboards, restricting users to their assigned customer data.
  • Ensure dashboards display aggregated metrics (e.g., transaction volumes, response times, error rates) sourced from Snowflake SQL (materialized views, refreshed daily).
  • Integrate authentication solutions (Okta SSO → Azure AD federation) for both internal and external users.
  • Establish monitoring and logging features to track user activity and report usage.
  • Evaluate self-service and Q&A visual capabilities to enable end-user natural language queries.

2. Training & Enablement

  • Provide structured training and coaching for junior analysts with Power BI/Tableau experience.
  • Help analysts build dashboards independently, while offering oversight, troubleshooting, and best practices.
  • Train the team on establishing a CI/CD lifecycle for Power BI development and deployment.

3. Environment Architecture & Deployment

  • Design and implement a scalable Power BI environment architecture across development, staging, and production.
  • Recommend and document deployment processes, including version control, GitHub integration, and automation vs manual practices.
  • Define workspace management and security best practices.
  • Conduct training sessions for the team to manage environment architecture long-term.

4. Data Governance & Security

  • Establish governance framework covering naming conventions, roles & permissions, deployment standards, and security protocols.
  • Ensure consistent use of certified/promoted datasets and centralized metric logic.
  • Provide standards for metadata, documentation, and user guides.
  • Define governance roles, responsibilities, and auditing practices for monitoring usage.

Requirements

  • Proven expertise in Power BI architecture, administration, and dashboard development.
  • Strong understanding of data governance, security models, and deployment best practices.
  • Hands-on experience integrating Okta SSO and Azure AD federation.
  • Proficiency with Snowflake SQL and handling large-scale datasets.
  • Familiarity with CI/CD pipelines, DevOps, and GitHub-based version control.

Job Type: Contractual / Temporary

Contract length: 06 months

Pay: ₹2,000, ₹2,500,000.00 per year
