Head of Engineering Department

Role Objective

To lead proposal and detailed engineering for gas distribution systems (GDS), process skids, and fluid systems, while building the engineering team's capability. The role will be accountable for delivering high-quality technical solutions, supporting business development in technical discussions, and creating engineering standards for the organization.

Key Responsibilities

Proposal & Detailed Engineering

•Lead the design and engineering of modular gas and liquid systems, including gas generation units (N₂, O₂, H₂), blending, metering, blanketing, and pressure control skids

• Support Business Development team by addressing technical queries (TQs) and providing optimized engineering solutions.

• Own and guide development of PFDs, P&IDs, routing, layout, instrumentation, and component selection (valves, regulators, sensors, transmitters, heat exchangers, etc.)

• Prepare cost estimates, BOQs, and preliminary engineering documents for customer approval.

• Oversee preparation and finalization of PFDs, P&IDs, GA drawings, layouts, and routing plans.

· Drive engineering excellence in mass transfer, energy transfer, and fluid control strategies

• Specify and size process equipment and ensure compliance with relevant standards (ASME, API, TEMA).

• Coordinate with automation, instrumentation, and electrical teams for integrated solutions.

Engineering Standards & Capability Building

• Build a solution library and component database for faster turnaround and sales enablement

• Recommend and develop a portfolio of modular, standardized systems that are repeatable and scalable

• Build engineering checklists and quality gates for project deliverables.

• Mentor and train junior engineers in process design, documentation, and best practices.

Solution Mapping Across Market Segments

• Analyze industry segments such as Oil & Gas, Petrochemicals, Specialty Chemicals, Fertilizers, Pharmaceuticals, Energy, Hydrogen, and others.

• Identify niche process applications where Company can offer standardized, modular solutions.

• Recommend and develop a portfolio of standard systems that can be repeatedly marketed and sold across projects and customers.

• Guide creation of a solution library aligned with industry requirements and business expansion goals.

Business Enablement

• Collaborate with leadership to align technical roadmaps with business strategy.

• Support business development teams with technical proposals and client discussions during the growth phase.

• Provide insights on emerging technologies and scalable solutions in chosen segments.

Support Management & Portfolio Expansion

• Work closely with company leadership to identify new market applications where Company can create and expand its portfolio.

• Analyze customer needs, industry gaps, and market trends to propose new product opportunities.

• Lead feasibility studies and proof-of-concept engineering for potential solutions.

• Ensure new portfolio additions are designed for repeatability, scalability, and ease of deployment.

Technical Support During Execution

• Provide expert-level technical assistance during fabrication, assembly, and commissioning.

• Assist in troubleshooting and resolving design or execution-related challenges.

• Support client technical meetings, FATs (Factory Acceptance Tests), and site visits.

Additional Responsibilities

·       Coordinate with external consultants for project-specific technical requirements and specialized inputs.

·       Scout and engage need-based external Subject Matter Experts (SMEs) to build advanced technical capabilities for ABP.

·       Identify, evaluate, and develop external manufacturing solutions to support project execution.

·       Define and oversee Operational Qualification (OQ) and Performance Qualification (PQ) for manufactured systems.
