Job Description

An HR Manager/Officer for a group encompassing manufacturing, switchgear, electrical, construction, and trading industries oversees a diverse range of human resource functions, from strategic planning to day-to-day operations

The role is focused on aligning the workforce with the company's business objectives while ensuring compliance and fostering a productive, safe, and positive work environment.

Roles & Responsibilities

Strategic human resources

  • Develop and implement HR strategies: Formulate HR policies and procedures that are consistent across the different business units—manufacturing, construction, trading, and electrical—and aligned with the company's overarching business goals.
  • Workforce planning: Forecast the company's future staffing needs, which is especially critical in the project-based and variable-demand construction and manufacturing industries.
  • Ensure legal compliance: Maintain up-to-date knowledge of local labor laws and regulations (such as those concerning employee contracts, work hours, and safety) across all relevant industries to ensure company compliance and mitigate legal risk.

Talent management

  • Recruitment and selection: Manage the end-to-end hiring process, from creating job descriptions and posting advertisements to screening candidates, conducting interviews, and extending offers. This includes sourcing specialized skills for the electrical and construction sectors.
  • Onboarding and induction: Design and execute orientation and onboarding programs for new employees to ensure they are properly integrated into the company culture and understand relevant policies.
  • Performance management: Oversee and manage the employee performance appraisal system, ensuring a consistent and fair process that drives high performance.
  • Employee retention: Develop and implement strategies and incentive programs to increase employee engagement and motivation and retain key talent.

Employee relations and administration

  • Administer compensation and benefits: Manage and oversee compensation, payroll, and benefits programs, such as health insurance, leave, and retirement plans, ensuring they are competitive and equitable.
  • Handle employee relations: Act as a liaison between management and employees to address and resolve grievances, disputes, or other issues in a professional and fair manner.
  • Manage HR records: Maintain accurate and confidential employee records, including personnel files, and process all required HR documentation.
  • Conduct exit interviews: Manage the employee termination process, including conducting exit interviews to gather valuable feedback on reasons for departure.

Industry-specific requirements

  • Manufacturing and switchgear: Administer plant safety programs and ensure a healthy and safe working environment in accordance with relevant regulations like OSHA. Knowledge of specific assembly roles and production cycles is essential.
  • Construction: Manage labor relations, especially for contractual workers on project-based assignments. Ensure compliance with specific construction-related labor laws, like the Contract Labor Act.
  • Trading: Partner with leadership to support business strategies related to workforce planning, particularly involving the coordination of sales and logistics teams.

Required skills and qualifications

  • Education: A bachelor's degree in human resources, Business Administration, or a related field. An HR-specific certification (e.g., SHRM) is often preferred.
  • Experience: A minimum of 5–7 years of progressive HR experience, preferably within a multi-industry group or a similar manufacturing, trading, or construction environment.
  • UAE /GCC Work Experience : it is essential for this role.
  • Technical knowledge:
    • In-depth knowledge of local UAE laws and HR best practices.
    • Proficiency with HR software (HRIS) and Microsoft Office Suite.
    • Familiarity with industry-specific regulations and safety standards.
  • Core competencies:
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to build trust and effectively liaise with all levels of employees.
  • Strong leadership, problem-solving, and conflict-resolution abilities.
