Position: - Senior Proposal Engineer

Roles:

  • Bid Manager – Lead preparation of techno-commercial proposals for automation projects.
  • Requirement Interpreter – Understand customer specifications and translate them into solutions.
  • Cost & Estimation Expert – Prepare accurate costing, quotations, and budgeting.
  • Solution Architect – Develop concept layouts and technical presentations to demonstrate feasibility.
  • Client Interface – Act as the technical-commercial point of contact during pre-sales stage.
  • Team Coordinator – Work closely with design, project, procurement, and sales teams for proposal accuracy.

Responsibilities:

1. Requirement Analysis & Conceptualization

  • Study RFQs, tender documents, and customer specifications.
  • Identify automation needs, cycle time, safety, and productivity requirements.
  • Develop preliminary concepts, layouts, and technical solutions.
  • Costing & Estimation
  • Prepare cost estimation for mechanical, electrical, controls, and bought-out items.
  • Evaluate suppliers/subcontractors for quotations and lead-time.
  • Optimize designs for cost competitiveness without compromising quality.
  • Proposal Preparation
  • Create detailed techno-commercial proposals (technical write-ups, scope, costing, and exclusions).
  • Draft BOQ (Bill of Quantities) and cost breakdown.
  • Ensure proposals meet both technical compliance and commercial competitiveness.
  • Customer Interaction
  • Present proposals, concept layouts, and technical clarifications to clients.
  • Handle pre-bid meetings, technical discussions, and proposal negotiations.
  • Maintain strong customer relationships for repeat business.
  • Internal Coordination
  • Work with design and project teams for technical feasibility.
  • Collaborate with procurement for vendor pricing and lead time.
  • Align with sales team for strategy and project positioning.
  • Documentation & Compliance
  • Prepare compliance matrices against customer RFQ.
  • Ensure proposals follow industry standards, safety norms, and company policies.
  • Maintain records of submitted proposals and update costing database.
  • Continuous Improvement
  • Track project wins/losses and analyze reasons for improvement.
  • Stay updated with new automation technologies, robotics, and market trends.
  • Develop standardized templates and cost models for faster proposal turnaround.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical/Mechatronics/Electrical/Electronics/Instrumentation/Automation.
  • 5–7+ years' experience in proposal engineering, sales support, or estimation in automation.
  • Strong knowledge of industrial processes, control systems, and instrumentation.
  • Proficiency in AutoCAD, MS Office, and estimation tools.
  • Strong analytical, negotiation, and communication skills.
